Environmental storytelling in the town (a stuffed animal, statues, shrines, posters, signs, etc) hint that the animal was someone very important to the people living there. Basically, this giant pirate appears, cooks up a town’s guardian deity, and proceeds to eat it while trampling through said town, all without a care in the world~
