He's leading the defense of Rome and has become legendary, by fearlessly smoking on the city walls as snipers aim at him and hosting dinner parties where guests fall to artillery shrapnel. But his dream of a united independent Italy didn't begin here, but on a small merchant vessel when he was young.

One day, we need an Extra History bit for Ferdinand Graf Zeppelin: Calvaryman, Observer, War Hero, and Inventor. He was an observer of the American Civil War (which helped get the idea of the now-famous Zeppelins into his head after observing a Union observation balloon camp, and one of its members took him for a ride), was a cavalryman in the Prussian Army, became a war hero, and then invested his family's fortune into what would become known as the Zeppelin (and even had what amounts to a Kickstarter campaign to help fund it), before creating the world's first aerospace corporation (the Zeppelin company) and the world's first airline. He also had an amazing song attributed to him (originally made for his father but it became Ferdinand graf Zeppelin's): the Graf Zeppelin Marsch (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1f4xxS3sI0)
