Extra History Topic Suggestions are OPEN until 5/6!

Hello Historians, our next Extra History theme is Halloween: Magic, The Occult &. Spook Vibes!

Trick-or-Treat Extra Historians! This next vote will be for a series launching in October, and that lets us tee up our very first Halloween-themed full series! Think witch trials and werewolf panics, Spiritualism, and the dead. This would be the perfect theme to suggest Elizabeth Bathory, Edgar Allan Poe, John Dee the birth of horror films (like Nosferatu and The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari) or anything gothic and weird. Just remember that vibe is important here—it should be Halloween enough to bleed orange and black.

The conquest of Constantinopla

Rodrigo Barrio

History of Voodoo! A religion with origins in African tribal worship mixed with Native American spiritualism whose cultural connotation is one of evil spirits and magic. would be perfect for October!

Vivian Griffith

It would be a stretch, but it's not unheard of, just look at the author "Mark Twain" who was born under a comet, and died when that comet returned.

When you get the moniker of "Wickedest Man On Earth" you know you're doing something that is, in the opinions of others, "not quite right".

It could be an interesting one, but then Extra Credits could begin to explore other holidays mutated by Christianity to become the holidays as we know them today. It'd be opening a whole different can of worms for Extra Credits, so I have to ask'em, you lot up for that?

Jacob White

Bedlam will have to make an appearance, or get a mention in your idea, the asylum that was home to King George 3rd and gave us the term "Bedlam" meaning chaotic uproar

History of the Asylums - Hell on Earth! Also require a one-off for Nellie Bly and her cover story of the asylum.

Nimrod

Aleister Crowley, this man needs his own series, and his occult obsession and life should get fully explained, even if it's just a one off episode.

Jacob White

It's a bit of a stretch but maybe a bioseries on Harry Houdini, who famously died on Halloween. His life touched a lot of really interesting events and trends in the 19th and 20th century, from the experiences of Jewish immigrants to Vaudville to his famous clashes with spiritualists.

Joshua Evans-Lowell

Oh that one would be fun!
