Akhenaten - A Pharaoh Obsessed
Added 2019-11-15 18:31:00 +0000 UTCQueen Nefertiti's husband Akhenaten was a bit of an unusual pharaoh. So unusual his successors tried (and almost successfully!) erased him from history. What exactly did Akhenaten do that warranted such an extreme response? He tried to unite the Upper and Lower Kingdoms of Egypt, commissioned radically different art, and... tried to forcibly convert all citizens to worshiping his one and only god, Aten. Not a great look for a ruler of a mostly polytheistic society. But hey, a sun disk with multiple arms is a pretty neat looking god!

Thank you. Somewhere, I have a historic novel about Akhenaten, which I still haven't started reading, decades later. So thank you for this brief look that fits my busy life better. Sorry, old book. I know you're sad.
