As far as I know, to repare something with gold in the Kintsugi (I'm not sure) tradition is a sign of beauty. to see the beauty of broken things is to see the beauty in reality. a reconciliation with the our flaws and the flaws of the world something. But I don't know if this tradition is of this period, I might be wrong.
