Hello! First of all, thank you guys for this wonderful channel. I was sorry to see that i missed my chance of woting for this round. May i ask if there is a chance of you guys making a series on the Revolutions of 1848-49 at a certain point, even if it lost the race for the moment? It is an interesting part in the history of the Habsburg Empire and as the Hungarian names go, i can help with the pronunciation. 😊

2017-12-05 11:30:20 +0000 UTCI want to "re-respond" to ExCredHist. First of all, million thanks for the input and for everything! These workgroups would follow standard human collaborating patterns: 150 would sign on, 10% of that would be active and half still would be very active. That's easy today with online tools. I envision the work would result in a 10-20 page report ... to be posted online ... could even be an extra incentive for patreon members. Nobody would consider that a waste of time. Each group would have a coordinator. So you guys at HQ would not need to do much. The only thing I would like to see to get started is a list of the top ten vote getters in second place. Maybe we ould pick three of them and then post a little blurb asking members to consider signing on.

2017-12-05 06:30:17 +0000 UTCWhat is the name of the channel? Just search 1848 Mike Duncan on YouTube to marginal results. I’d love to see this.

2017-12-05 03:55:21 +0000 UTCI'll be honest, I don't like math... it kinda scares me. But to know what scares you can make you stronger, so let's learn about the History of Non-Euclidean Geometry! :D

2017-12-05 03:34:34 +0000 UTCCheers to both of you. :) I'm chasing up the suggestion right here; I'm down to listen! I think it's more fun for everyone when multiple people can be involved in a series. But I will admit, I don't exactly know how I would make this happen; coordinating it seems like it would be a feat in itself. And what if those 200 people research the Inca for a potential future series only for it to not win a vote the next time it comes up? I like involvement, but I don't want to waste anyone's time. -Soraya

2017-12-05 00:33:51 +0000 UTCWe haven't decided on a time to bring it back yet; we definitely will be, but I couldn't say which vote. It'll probably be a while so, if you're waiting on tenterhooks, I might recommend snagging a good Bismarck biography to curl up with while you wait!

2017-12-04 15:12:31 +0000 UTCVote 1848!! If you have not voted yet, let me tell you about why the Revolutions of 1848 are so cool. (No, I did not suggest it.) I am a big fan of the book, The Phantom Terror, which is about it, Think about all those progressive ideas that were a part of the French Revolution and Napoleon's administrations, from manumission to unifying Italy and unifying Germany, both of which were divided up to an outrageous degree. So, yes, the monarchies beat Napoleon, but the ideas are still out there. On the other end of things, the monarchies learned a thing or nineteen as well, such as the terror and police-state tactics of the Committee of Public Safety; a misnomer if there ever was one. That's that stage. It is such a cool scenario and I'd love to see what EC does with it in their own unique style.

2017-12-04 08:27:19 +0000 UTCVoted for Isabella because I loved the Catherine the Great series. EH is always awesome, but I'm learning that I like the 'great man' side of history more. That aside, shout out to the branching into math and science!

2017-12-03 19:33:06 +0000 UTCThe idea of being more than a silent partner is my motivation.
Ryan Wojciechowski
2017-12-03 19:20:45 +0000 UTCCheers Ryan! Maybe we should draft a little one pager proposal for the e.c. admin ... since we would also be collaborating with them. Is it the Inca Empire specifically motivates you?
Ken Kostyo
2017-12-03 17:40:28 +0000 UTCI'm actually really interested in this idea! I'd love to work with fellow fans to research the Inca empire as a preempt for another series.
Ryan Wojciechowski
2017-12-03 17:29:30 +0000 UTCSo is anyone else super into Ken Kostyo's idea? The winner of this vote gets made by the professional crew and the second place gets researched to death by the Patreon people so they now have all the source material for another series. Because I can't imagine anything better than the 2,000 of us collaborating to make the lives of, at least research team, a lot easier while we help out the series we love.

2017-12-03 17:27:56 +0000 UTCDangit, I see my suggestion of Timur the Lame was not taken up this time.

2017-12-03 13:41:57 +0000 UTCMaybe I am overstepping here, but we should have workgroups ... collabatories for some subjects. I mean there are more than 200 people who want incans. That's a real resource. They could work together and post results online until some future date the subject gathers more steam ... I would love to help more than just PayPal'ing.
Ken Kostyo
2017-12-03 06:04:46 +0000 UTCIsabella of Castile , still 2 days left. I'm hoping on that one.

2017-12-03 05:09:09 +0000 UTCSo Extra Credits Crew: You guys said we may be able to cover the second half of Bismarck if the Patreons vote on it. Considering we vote pretty far ahead for series, when will we be able to vote on Bismarck part II? These are all cool topics in their own right (I want to see one on Geometry or Inca), but Bismarck is a really cool topic.

2017-12-03 03:42:13 +0000 UTCOnly about 30% of the vote is in so still too soon to say. Non-Euclidean geometry is surprisingly far ahead.

2017-12-02 23:31:18 +0000 UTCI honestly expected to be the only one voting for Geometry. Leave it to the Extra History fans to pick the most seemingly boring topic! Love you guys!

2017-12-02 23:06:43 +0000 UTCI love the physical history stuff, but so little is done on the history of Ideas. gotta vote for the math!

2017-12-02 22:38:40 +0000 UTCThis was so hard to choose! Math history OR Revolutions I love when extra history covers topics most overlook, like writing and finance, and in this case, math. BUT Revolutions are cool Went with the History of Non-euclidean Geometry because I figure that making higher math more accessible will do more good than diving into Revolutions. Not that Revolutions aren't important, but they are less likely to be overlooked and so need the exposure and accessibility less than Math. TLDR; Math is more Esoteric. Make it less Esoteric

2017-12-02 20:52:15 +0000 UTCYes, 1848 is important. It was referenced in the Bismark episodes and it will be referenced in every other episode they'll make about European politics of that era. So yes, a 1848 episode would be very appreciated.

2017-12-02 19:54:06 +0000 UTCOh sweet baby Jesus this is a TOUGH one. My history obsessed self wants to vote for the 1848 revolution since it's one of THE most important events in XIX century but I feel (like Bismarck & Justinian) that it's just too big of a thing to cover in just 6 episodes and might need a two series deal......but the Inca Empire is a FASCINATING part of history and some non-Euro history is a much needed topic.... Buuuuut on the other hand I have a degree in technical physics so non-Euclidean geometry is my jam all the way because of how little know that it's a ting at all. So I'm going with this.

2017-12-02 19:13:46 +0000 UTCIsabella of Castile has quite the interesting story. Most people only know her as the one who sent Columbus on his way to America, but she did so much more during her reign, for both good and ill.
Robert Griffith
2017-12-02 19:11:23 +0000 UTCAs much as I'd like to see a series on the Inca, I'm just too intrigued by a series anout non-Euclidean geometry.
Alexander Vornoff
2017-12-02 19:00:00 +0000 UTC1848 is a hugely important topic: the birth of social democracy, the universal republic, modern Switzerland, the end of several dynasties BUT you gotta go deep to make it worthwhile ... so much more than a parade of dates.
Ken Kostyo
2017-12-02 18:57:57 +0000 UTCby "non-euclidean geometry", you mean the models that came before or after? Ancient geometry, or current day non-basic geometry?
Assaf Hadary
2017-12-02 18:53:19 +0000 UTCRevolutions of 1848 for me! Along with the Inca Empire, and non-Euclidian Geometry because I want more non-Military Extra History...slightly Ironic considering my main obsession is Ancient Rome.
Martin Verran
2017-12-02 18:40:07 +0000 UTCOriginally voted for Isabelle of Castile, but as she's currently coming in last I've switched my vote to the Inca Empire.
Nicholas Kosky
2017-12-02 18:40:01 +0000 UTCSheesh, that's a deep cut between the Inca & Non-Euclidian Geometry. Eh, I'll have to tab into my Mesoamerican/Andean fixation & vote Inca! Those civilizations are yet to appear on this series & they get a pretty bad rap in most media for savagery & mystic fanaticism. Its unfortunate you might have to hard sell something as esoteric, yet fascinating as Non-Euclidian Geometry later down the line, but I can't help but think this might better fit in or paired into an Extra Sci-Fi series or episode (lookin' at you, Lovecraft.)
Joseph A.
2017-12-02 18:35:39 +0000 UTCRevolutions of 1848. Definetly.
Jaka Torkar
2017-12-02 18:35:30 +0000 UTCI'm weirdly really interested in the history of Non-Euclidean Geometry because it is one of those truly obscure and important topics that this series has no problem covering in great details. Things like the Christian Schisms and the South Sea Bubble are critical but get glossed over and this is a great chance for us to bring them to light. But of course the Inca empire kind of falls into that lesser known category and if they make a series as interesting as the Hiawatha videos it's gonna be a resounding success.
Ryan Wojciechowski
2017-12-02 18:34:17 +0000 UTCI really hope the 1848 Revolutions win. From what I've heard they are absolutely fascinating and I'd love to see your take on them. :)

2017-12-02 18:33:52 +0000 UTCVoted for the 1848 Revolutions, don't know much about them, and considering they turned France into a republic again, and made the mess of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, it would be nice to know more about them.

2017-12-02 18:23:32 +0000 UTCI really want to see all the cute art that gets done for the Inca. I won't mind if any of the others win, but I'm putting my vote there.

2017-12-02 18:17:15 +0000 UTCI cannot in good consciense vote for 1848 as Mike Duncan is covering them right now already on Revolutions and I don't want to double up. Non-Euclidian Geometry sounds fascinating.
