The Roommate - Remastered - Chapter 1

Rebecca pushed her shoulder into the gap between door and doorway, watching Daniel unpack. She looked on as Daniel lifted a heavy box, the muscles in his back tensing and rippling even as she watched. He’d long since removed the white t-shirt he’d worn in, on the pretense of it being a hot day - and the shirt had been clinging to his skin with sweat, almost reluctant to come off. As such, Rebecca had been treated to the sight of slender but well muscled arms stretching the materi...

Double Trouble - Chapter 12 - 'Kidnapping' is Such a Harsh Word

Princess!?” the girl beneath me screamed, even as the offending valkyrie calmly looked to the side like she hadn’t totally just blown my cover.

…Of course, I had just ordered her to look the other way. It definitely wasn’t that she was purposefully ignoring me and planning to hurry away just to avoid my ire… right?

“What did she mean princess!?”

“Could you please shut up about my sec...

“So, uh, now that we’re done eating… What’s next?” I asked, looking between my various companions at the table. “Another request?”

“Is she even part of the guild?” Mikaela asked, throwing a glance Singh’s way.

“What guild?” Singh asked, her brow furrowing.

“The adventurer’s guild,” Reckt supplied. “Where adventurers go to make a name for themselves!”

“Or to put food on the table,” Mikaela added. “It’s a perfec...

Double Trouble - Chapter 11 - A Rough Start

Charlotte

The night was, in fact, rather silent. Unfortunately, so was my muse. I still couldn’t come up with anything better than “Sharlotte,” which was probably the worst secret identity name of all time considering most humans in this world didn’t even know how to read, and it sounded exactly like my real name.

On the bright side, the night air felt cool against my skin, and my tail was free to wiggle about in delight for what felt like the firs...

Demon Queened - Remastered - Chapter 8 - The Talk

I stared at the horned wolf girl in my bed, hardly able to believe my own eyes. My mind was reeling with the implications—had the wolves I fought actually been demons?

…No, I was sure they hadn’t been. While there were varieties of demons who could transform, I was… fairly certain that they reverted to demonoid forms after death. In fact, I was willing to bet that sleep was what undid Bailey’s own transformation.

Why hadn’t she transformed earlier, th...

…Of course, it was more likely just that I’d ordered her to look the other way. It definitely wasn’t that she was skirting around me and hurrying away just to avoid my ire… right?

Double Trouble - Chapter 10 - Returning the Favor

Charlotte

The sun was setting by the time we finally got back to the town. According to Reckt the gates and shops would both be closing soon. It wasn’t too late to get a bed or a meal, though… assuming we could get them both in the same location. Otherwise… Well, we did have some food stored in Mikaela’s Empty Bag. In fact, with Reckt now aware of at least most of our secrets, we didn’t really have much of a reason to hide that… Which meant I probably could h...

“Uh, I get that you want to move on with the quest,” Reckt said, rubbing the back of her head, “but… aren’t you forgetting something?”

“Like what?” I asked. Perhaps I was a touch too cross in my response, judging by the way Reckt flinched, but… Well, if I was being honest with myself  I didn’t really have an excuse. I was just annoyed that our identities had been revealed so quickly, even if it was to someone in a similar situation ...

Double Trouble - Chapter 8 - A Surprising Connection

Charlotte

I stared at Bonny the Bunny. She stared back, eyes wide and nose twitching. I nodded to myself, content with the cuteness, and placed her down on the ground.

“Don’t go running now, you hear?” I warned her. “Or-”

She ran the second she was on the ground, crashing right into a spider web in her blind rush to get away.

...Or I might not be able to protect you,” I continued, casually swiping my bloody dagger through the webbing. Of...

I stared at the bear standing before me. It was something like nine feet tall, with dark brown fur and lighter brown spikes extending from its spine and elbows. They looked remarkably sharp, but I doubted their sturdiness. I could likely snap the things off if it came down to it.

The creature didn’t move during my examination. I could almost imagine that it was looking me over in turn, trying to decide if I was worth the trouble of feasting upon. Not an impossibility, ...

Double Trouble - Chapter 7 - Call Her George

Charlotte

It took a few seconds for Reckt to open her eyes and realize she wasn’t about to be eaten. When she did, her first reaction was to launch herself at me and Mikaela, arms flung out wide. Mikaela looked like she wanted to sidestep, but I grabbed the sleeve of her shirt to hold her in place as Reckt threw her arms around our necks. Mikaela could have pulled free, the cloth obviously wasn’t strong enough to hold out if the both of us put our all into it, but she did...

Double Trouble - Chapter 6 - A Change in Perspective

Charlotte

I ducked under a bit of webbing, privately wondering whether it was even worth avoiding the sticky strands anymore. They were literally everywhere at this point, and I was seriously considering the benefits of a small forest fire. Mikaela would probably shut me down if I brought it up, though. Too much chance of us losing control over it and all that… not that it would be difficult for us to put it out, but I guess there was something to be said for not b...

“Something’s bugging me,” I muttered, sliding closer to Mikaela and putting up an audio-shield to keep our words from reaching Reckt.

“You mean the unnatural silence?” Mikaela asked, glancing around. We were walking through the woods, a good distance away from the beaten track, towards the area the guild secretary had directed us towards. In theory, that was where the wolves lived - alongside a bunch of other stuff, like birds and insects and the like, which ...

Reckt, it turned out, was someone we knew. Kinda. She was the girl who’d been right in front of us when we were still in line to see the secretary. The one who’d mangled the pelts she was supposed to collect.

“Yo, Guild Master!” she called out even as she swung the door open. “Heard you wanted to see me?”

“You’re taking on some rookies,” Denden declared, apparently taking her casual greeting in stride.

“Wait, what?” Reckt asked, blinki...

“Excuse me, miss, but… could I please see the Guild Master?” I asked, my smile bright and my eyes focused fully on the girl in front of me. This was the proper way to greet someone, so far as I was concerned. For some reason, though, the girl didn’t seem to be quite meeting my eyes - more like looking slightly to the left of me.

“The… guild master?” she asked nervously. “May I ask if you have an appointment?”

Another Site Update

The good news - the site is functional, and I think all my posts are on it!

The bad news - the Patreon plugin basically just dumped every post I've ever made onto the site, and I don't think half of them are even dated properly (that was another option I had to click, which I only did part way through the mass upload.)

I'm currently sorting things into categories and trying to attach the proper dates to make them show in order. We'll.... See how it goes? How long it takes...

Standing in a bedroom far too small for the three people inside it, staring at the Heroine’s proffered hand, I felt the sudden urge to laugh. In fact, I was laughing. No—giggling!
