Haha, that's a nice coincidence! I'd love to see the Brazilian Empire.

Go Jurchen, you beautiful culture lasting for more than half a millennium, repeatedly winning wars against China and only getting remembered as that group that ruled China when the Europeans showed up and making everybody confused.

Christina Maria Jessen

Eh, English isn't that weird overall. I mean, it's kinda odd, but most European languages are in some form or another due to the mix of Germanic and Latin influences in both Germanic and Romance language, not to mention how both kept messing with the Slavic ones. And let's not even get started on Basque or the Uralic language family. Moving outside of Europe, few things are as linguistically insane as Japanese writing and Chinese lost pretty much all its traditional phonetic features and adopted a completely new set somewhere between late Han and the start of the Tang dynasty.

Christina Maria Jessen

I mean, her successors kinda kept making boneheaded moves ruining the whole thing, but yes, Margaret I is a very worthwhile figure to include. She was one of the great diplomats and stateswomen of the middle ages, yet mostly forgotten outside Scandinavia.

As usual ill write the Franco-Dahomey war (1st one)

I had a tough choice between the Partitions of Poland (keeping with the theme of a fairly recent series, eh?), the life of Tadeusz Kościuszko and the Battle of Vienna, but ultimately I got "THEN THE WINGED HUSSARS ARRIVED" stuck in my head.

Moarice

Was a tough choice between Viking Age, Romance of Three Kingdoms, and Talleyrand. I punched in Talleyrand in the end.

Pavel Yakushevich

I submitted the History of the English language. Unlike most of the major international languages, English is REALLY weird when you step back and look at it, and I think it would make for an engaging series similar to the History of Paper Money.

Jason Fox

Ah, I hadn't read your comment but I went with The Brazilian Empire, which would have both Pedros and the Regency Period. Hah, quem diria?

Vika

I went with Margaret I. Uniting 3 kingdoms with centuries-old rivalries is hard, but doing so as a woman in the 1300s is even more impressive.

themunck

I've gone for the Khmer Empire, a nice corner of the globe that hasn't been covered yet :)

William Warren

Oh, I see where I got mixed up... I thought you meant midnight as it Became the 28th. Not the midnight at the End of the 28th. Sorry, concern withdrawn!

Going with Dom Pedro II "The Magnanimous." He's got a really interesting story, and the fact he was such a good leader due to not wanting to be a leader at all(plus what eventually happened when people who did want power forcibly seized it from him) makes for one of those "History teaches us a lot about human nature huh" moments.

It's two full days, unless I have miscounted? Today is Friday, so they have half of today, all of Saturday, and all of Sunday. Edited to Add: I changed the way the deadline was written to make it more clear (I hope) that folks have all day Sunday.

Extra History

Sargon of Akkad: The First Army, The First Empire again! Gonna just keep at it until I win and then move onto the next topic on my list. lol

Christopher Smith

I wish to register a slight amount of concern at people only getting one day for this. Seems like a high probability of people not checking their email in time and missing their chance.
