Exclusive preview: A p5.js 2.0 demo with the project lead, Kit Kuksenok ☀️

I have amazing news for all of us: p5.js 2.0 is coming with an insane amount of great updates, especially for those of us who work with typography and vector graphics. It even supports variable fonts and this is a really big step.

So, Graphic Designers, this upgrade is all for you!

I had the great honor and pleasure to speak to the lead of the p5.js project, Kit Kuksenok, to discuss all the new features and optimizations of p5.js and the web editor. It was a really special moment for me, Kit is an incredible human being, like the other folks from the Processing Foundation I've had the honor to meet with: Casey Reas, Raphaël de Courville and Daniel Shiffman.

I also have great news for the folks prefering Processing (Java) over p5.js (Javascript), just like me: The Processing team is working very hard to push the development forward and they make giant steps. I'll record an interview about these developments with Raphaël de Courville later.

I have my personal preference: I will continue using Processing over p5.js. These are the reasons:

Processing feels like the original for me, it has such a strong Aura and a long history
Processing is running the sketches in a sandbox which can easily be stopped, no browser freeze issues
Rendering videos and animations is way more easy
It feels more low level
I really appreciate the clarity of working with variable types
