Hi everyone, ☀️
I hope you are doing great. Today, I’m sharing a story of inspiration and connection with you. The most rewarding moments in my work? It's when creative people with their unique backgrounds apply the knowledge from my courses to their work. In the past years, I have always been really grateful to hear stories from humans all over the world, sharing their individual interpretations and applications of Creative Coding with me. Some of them became friends and I personally get so much from these connections. They shape how I think of my work. And they shape how I step forward every single day!
One very inspiring encounter happened in 2022. I spontaneously posted a story on Instagram: “If anyone out there is also in Rotterdam, I’d love to meet him/her/them!” Omid Nemalhabib, a highly sympathetic and sharp-minded graphic designer from Tehran, responded. We spent the whole afternoon in a thought-provoking conversation. Omid is fascinating as a person and as a designer. His work oscillates between continents and cultures, between Swiss typography and expressive Oriental ornamentation. It fuses cultures and tears down fences.
After our encounter, I sent Omid access to my website and my online courses, just to ask him for an opinion about it. Soon, the first posts appeared on his Instagram channel: He was using Arabic letters for playful, vibrant ASCII visualizations. I had never seen anything like it. In April 2024, I sent him a few questions to find out how he liked his journey into the world of programming. These are his answers.

PS: I'll be on Holiday
I am going to take a two week break from posting here on Patreon. I'll enjoy a vacation in west Spain. Looking forward to get back to you on June 14th!
