Topic Suggestion: December Edition
Added 2016-12-22 00:43:46 +0000 UTCLink: https://goo.gl/forms/VBA2dqadqWlRLnG03
Deadline: Friday, December 23 before midnight PST
Rules: Topic must be from a history period before 1920 CE.
Normally, when we do our topic suggestion, we run it the week before the Lies episode... but with our year-end break coming up, that won't be until January! We thought about it and decided that what we wanted to do for this end of the year was run TWO topic suggestions, one in December and one in January.
So this is the December edition! You can choose to submit one topic now and a different one in January (diversify your choices!), or you can submit the same topic twice and double its odds of winning. That's up to you! All topics suggested this month will remain in the pool for next month, even if you downgrade your patronage between now and then. The drawing will take place in January (there will only be one drawing).
So - what would you like to see Extra History cover? Let us know... and then in January, let us know again!

You have covered Bismarck but shouldn't you cover what led up to Prussia becoming so strong? I think you should make a series on Napoleon and the Napoleonic Wars

2018-01-17 13:27:46 +0000 UTCWhile I would love a series on the Battle of Wake island, it is firmly in the 1940’s, and therefore not open to suggestion. Since my first option is not open, I would recommend a series on the H.L. Hunley, a submarine from the American Civil War, and the first successful military submarine in history. Little known, obscure, and guaranteed to be interesting. Failing that, why not try the history of the submarine in general. I know that there is more than enough information for a full series, allowing you to cover everything from the Toledo submarines of the 1500’s to the Great War submarines of the 1910’s.

2017-01-03 15:19:17 +0000 UTCThinking about what to use for my January entry. Would a series on historical oddities like the Antikythera mechanism and the Voynich manuscript be viable?

2016-12-28 01:27:46 +0000 UTCI had one, but it's not pre 1920s. Perhaps in the future two series that cover two of the most controversial people of the 20th century. Mao Tse Tung and Che Guevara. Both communist revolutionaries despised and revered around the world. An unbiased historical view of their accomplishments and failings in history. Or maybe for later a series covering influential people of the 20th century? I know a little about Che but Mao really seems like an interesting subject I know nothing about.

2016-12-25 20:00:48 +0000 UTCDarn I was hoping it would be after 1920, I would love for you guys to cover the Spanish Revolution during the spanish Civil War but someday. Still I look forward to seeing what the results are.

Extra History
2016-12-22 09:22:35 +0000 UTCHi Aaron! Wrote you an email as well, but just wanted to clarify (especially for any others reading this): you are NOT required to submit a US history topic. As long as the topic you want to suggest takes place primarily before 1920 CE, you are good to go!
Extra History
2016-12-22 09:22:06 +0000 UTCSorry, could you please be more specific? Are you saying that yes, only US history topics are acceptable this time? Edit: Ah. I just looked over some of the previous posts and I think I see what you meant.

2016-12-22 02:51:13 +0000 UTCI went a bit avant garde with my suggestion. I suggested a series of one offs where the team each pick a topic.

2016-12-22 02:43:48 +0000 UTCWe did the last thing a month ago. A lot of us don't usually suggest US history.

2016-12-22 02:35:53 +0000 UTCNew patron here, so please excuse my ignorance of procedure. I noticed the form specifically asks "What US History topic would you like to suggest for the next Extra History mini-series?" I'm guessing that you're being specific for a reason and that any submissions pertaining to the histories of other countries would be ignored. Am I mistaken?
