Run-Off Vote: US History Edition!

Well, you did it. You finally did it, you wild and uncontrollable history lovers! This week's vote resulted in a perfect tie for Teddy Roosevelt and the Articles of Confederation. So let's have a run-off!

Link: http://freeonlinesurveys.com/p/yNFo8Ed9?qid=891026

Deadline: Before midnight on Friday, November 18

The rules are different this time around: you can only vote for ONE topic. If by some chance the vote manages to tie again, James will cast the tiebreaker vote.

P.S. Before anyone asks: yes, the vote order is randomized to keep it fair. It always is. ;)

Run-Off Vote: US History Edition!

Comments

I might not accept the results of this vote.

Jon Paul Cuellar

C'mon, lads and lasses! Today's a bully day to vote! Just a few more for Teddy!

Christopher Smith

Considering we literally pay to be in this House, this patreon is under oligarchy rule.

Pavel Yakushevich

There is and we are members of it. :P

Antti Björklund

If TR does win the vote, you just have to tell of the time he delivered a 90-minute speech with a bullet in his chest!

Antti Björklund

So glad you liked it! I'm a huge history dork so this is the sort of thing I live for. lol

Christopher Smith

I didn't want to chime in earlier and interrupt your slogan/poetry battle... but GOSH DANG I enjoyed reading this.

Extra History

Isn't there some kind of Extra History House of Representatives that can decide this?

BrandonC

I voted for Articles, again. I know so little about them

Jack the Rat

Still better than I'd handle it. lol

Christopher Smith

He still went to hospital afterwards. Bullet resistant maybe. :P

RMS Oceanic

If the fact that he still gave a speech with a bullet lodged in his chest untreated after an assassination attempt is any indication, Mister Roosevelt is also bulletproof!

Christopher Smith

Beneath this topic is more than flesh. Beneath this topic is an idea, Mister Roosevelt! And ideas are bulletproof!

RMS Oceanic

Teddy the adventurer.....Teddy constant fun... Teddy the eccentric, Harvard’s magna cum laude Teddy as a Rough Rider, Teddy, President... A vigorous and kindly man And where he was, fear left....

Christopher Smith

Teddy has always been a lucky fellow.

Extra History

Never mind, Articles, it wasn't your fault. Mistrust of centralised power caused the accident. I'm sending you to Philadelphia, a fine place for sick constitutions! They'll give you checks and balances and a stronger executive. You'll feel a different document and won't need unanimous consent for amendment anymore. Won't that be nice?

RMS Oceanic

"One evening he entered Nolan's Hotel and Saloon just as two shots were fired by a drunken cowboy. The gunslinger then pointed his weapon at Roosevelt, whom he referred to as "four eyes", and demanded that he buy a drink for the entire house. Teddy laughed, which distracted the outlaw just long enough, before TR struck the desperado twice square on the jaw with left and right punches. As the man was going down, he convulsively squeezed off another shot, which missed Roosevelt. The corner of the bar met with the falling man's head and placed him into unconsciousness. The unconscious man was locked in a shed overnight until he was jailed the next day."

Christopher Smith

The mildness of America, which the rigid discipline of the British was unable to eradicate, formed, at the same time, the most amiable, and the only defective, part of its sovereignty. Its excellent understanding was often deceived by the unsuspecting apathy of its states.

RMS Oceanic

We're ready for Teddy again, boys, For the Extra History chair, Come lift your voice for the people's choice, A real man to do and dare! Root steady for Teddy again boys, With all your might and main; The time is right for a man to fight, We're ready for Teddy again!

Christopher Smith

The Feds are gonna have their day, toniiiiight! Amending is just a delay, toniiiiight! States get away with murder! (Not quite) We must strengthen the center, Lest King George does biiite!

RMS Oceanic

Good God, my worst nightmare: both the options I voted for are in this run-off! Oh ok... Heads for Articles, tails for Teddy. *flips coin*.... Teddy gets my vote!

Antti Björklund

That all makes sense, seems fair. Second place gets another shot, nothing gets suspended.

Christopher Smith

Our Country's need at last we heed, And choose a man we know, Who always stood for ev'ry good, For the people high and low; He needs no friend to recommend, He's been there once before; He's on the track and going back, This man called Theodore! Once more, once more, We want our Theodore!

Christopher Smith

Walpole would just influence the coin in mid-air to decide how it landed. We know him.

Extra History

That would effectively require me to suspend the voting reward for 4-5 months since the two series together would take that long to produce. I don't like suspending Patreon rewards unless it's a dire situation (this was the entire reason I removed the $10 tier this month); some patrons may be fine with it in this case, but ALL of you decided to support our $5 voting option, so I want to deliver on the promise of what that pledge tier means. Now, we will probably bring our second place option back again for another vote, but then you all WILL have to vote on it if you want to see it succeed, since I don't think voting patterns with respect to US history topics are going to entirely change in the future.

Extra History

What would you do with unanimous votes, Would you refuse to ratify me? Lend me your states and I'll bargain with Spain, And I won't give up Mississippi.

RMS Oceanic

Actually I'm totally down for both in the event of a tie as well.

Christopher Smith

When it's this close shouldn't you just do both?

Joshua Kristoff

My Anaconda Don't Want None Unless Aforementioned Anaconda was Discovered on Roosevelt's Amazon Expedition!

Christopher Smith

Imploring for Imposts!

RMS Oceanic

Big Votes with a Big Stick!

Christopher Smith

The House votes on the topic; the Senate votes on the Walpole connection

RMS Oceanic

Gladison for Madison!

RMS Oceanic

You know, since it's a vote on US history you could do the same election committee in US does in case of tie: flip a coin.

Pavel Yakushevich

Rough-Ride in a Landslide!

Christopher Smith

Hurray for Shay!

RMS Oceanic

Imma Party for the Arty(cles)!

RMS Oceanic

I'M READY FOR TEDDY!
