Next anime series!
Added 2025-04-16 10:45:24 +0000 UTCAlright everyone, it’s finally happening. We’re diving into Hunter x Hunter very soon!
But here’s the thing… we have no clue which version to watch.
Do we go with the original 1999 version or the 2011 remake?
We’ve heard good things about both, but we want to make the best choice for the reaction series. So if you’ve seen either (or both), drop your thoughts or advice.
What version hits harder? Which one has the better pacing, animation, or emotional weight?
We’re open to suggestions and really want to make sure we experience it the way it deserves. Help us out!
Also one more thing. Does Hunter x Hunter have the same voice actors as YYH? If so then we will maybe watch it in dub. If not, then we will go for the sub. Thank you in advance!

We do prefer older art, because we're born in the 90s and love the nostalgic feel. The only problem is it seems that most people want us to watch the 2011 for various valid reasons, like consistency and it covering more arcs, etc.

2025-04-17 06:51:07 +0000 UTCIf you watch 1999 version you’ll literally be my favorite reactors ever! Everyone prefers the 2011 because it’s more recent. But 1999 is literally a work of art. The direction and the music is so good and it gets better as it progresses.

2025-04-16 15:54:09 +0000 UTCTheres so much I prefer from the 90s version like the voice acting, pacing especially, and art style. But unfortunately its also missing one of peoples favorite arcs in the series. So I think most people would prefer if you react to the newer one (myself included). If you end up enjoying it I do recommend you go back and watch some of the 90's version on or off camera.

So you gotta watch the whole thing again lol. If you like the dark and greedy feel like in yyh. 90’s version is good watch. Dub or sub it’s up to you. To me I think dub didn’t hit as good as yyh did.

2025-04-16 12:29:12 +0000 UTCWe loved Chapter Black, so I am really thinking about the 90's version now. I still don't know what to do tbh.

2025-04-16 12:13:30 +0000 UTCThanks for all the information, everything is crystal clear now. I just have one question: is it possible to watch the 2011 version of the show as a continuation after finishing the 90s version? Do you think that's a good idea, or is it better to stick to one version?

2025-04-16 12:12:25 +0000 UTCBetween DBZ & YYH it's been an amazing journey with you 2! As far as 90s anime with worthwhile dubs like YYH, Berserk (25eps) & Trigun (26eps) will give you that same feeling you get while watching YYH (PEAK!) And with HxH ill be honest if you're looking for that Chapter Black feel go with the 90s version first. It's got a darker tone. I've rewatched it a handful of times and I think the sub is good, but the dub is more digestible and sticks with you longer if that makes sense lol

2025-04-16 11:36:01 +0000 UTCNice! Hunter x Hunter is in my top 3 favorite anime/manga of all time. For me, it’s kinda like choosing between your mom and dad, but having seen both versions, I would easily go with the 2011 version. HxH 2011 covers more arcs (148 episodes), has better animation, more consistent storytelling, is better paced overall, and is the more popular version of the series. The 1999 version did introduce me to the series and has that 90s darker aesthetic and tone that I absolutely adore, especially in the early parts. But it does have flaws, like slower pacing and splitting the story into OVAs, which makes it feel incomplete. My only small issue with 2011 is that early on, the bright art style made the tone feel a bit too cheerful. But trust me, that changes fast as the series progresses. Madhouse really nailed it. So to sum up: For me, the 2011 version is the better product overall, and I’d definitely recommend reacting to it in sub. And If you’re curious afterward, check out the 1999 version for the nostalgic, moodier take. P.S. Hunter x Hunter doesn’t share voice actors with Yu Yu Hakusho, So sub is the way to go. Let me know if you guys need some more info. This made my day, IK BEN HYPED!🔥
