Dragon Ball Super - Episode 77

Dragon Ball Super - Episode 77

Yeah, we never had baby showers in the past in The Netherlands and I don't know when it first started in America, but it's not that common in other countries still. You explained that perfectly, regarding the millionaires and having eyes and ears. People with health problems would give up all their money to be able to feel healthy again and we must appreciate what we have now. Free time, wifi, being able to have our own house or room where we can watch anime and relax together. Friends, family, pets. The most important things can't be bought. You're also very right about the road towards achieving your goals. I've experienced that myself. I always had more appreciation for the journey instead of the end result.

Really cool end discussion. Yeah I'm pretty sure baby showers or celebrating before the baby is even born is quite a modern thing worldwide. Pregnancy was more private and they used to only celebrate once the baby is born safely from what I know. Or even after a month of health and safety. Yeah trying to feel fulfilled through material things always ends in disappointment because you just don't get the satisfaction you expected in your mind. It's like a disease. I think instead you have to get fulfillment from day to day life and being grateful for what you have. That's why many people end up saying they enjoyed the journey to getting the material thing (or achieving a goal), more than the actual material thing itself. This might be a common saying but, I'm guessing all of us here have healthy eyes and ears to watch anime, and let's say we lost our eyesight, and we had multimillions, we would definitely pay that all up to get our eyesight back. And we all got working eyes for free! So in some ways we are all millionaires lol. About Toriyama and the goofy characters...I guess DBZ was like a happy accident or a "one-off miracle" lol. It had all the ingredients and 'coincidences' combined to result in the world wide phenomenon of a show. It reminds me slightly of the game SSBM. Nintendo never wanted to create a highly competitive game, and always preferred party games which casual players enjoy the most, but bcos of happy coincidences/accidents, it became ultra competitive and became one of the longest running competitive game scenes, despite nintendo actively trying to shut it down for years lol.

Haha yeah, I had no idea what a baby shower even was at first. I thought people were just gifting each other shampoo and body wash or something. Baby showers are definitely one of those uniquely American traditions.

Glad you enjoyed the discussion! It’s kinda crazy how different things can be once you start comparing cultures. Makes you realize what feels normal is really just one version of it.

Kaizen

Yeah, I get that. Things can feel a bit more laid back over here, and people do tend to appreciate the simple stuff a bit more but trust me, it’s not perfect either. Every place has its flaws. Still, the contrast might be a refreshing change. Hope you get to experience it one day.

Kaizen

Oh you know it’s about to pop off. Grand Priest, peak Super, and Maaike has no clue what’s coming. That reaction’s gonna be gold.

Kaizen

That means a lot man, glad the aftertalk hit you like that. And yeah, 100% agree. Some people really burn through their whole savings just to prove something to people who wouldn’t even check in on them if they disappeared. It’s a weird game, and honestly not one worth playing. I feel you man. Losing people that young changes everything. It really makes you focus on what matters. Health, real connections, and peace. Sorry you had to go through that too. Truth is once you’ve seen enough loss, your tolerance for surface level nonsense disappears. You stop caring about validation, status, or appearances and start paying attention to what actually carries weight. The world can be full of noise sometimes, but only a few things cut through it. Your peace, your health, and the people who stay when there’s nothing left to gain. Also… TOURNAMENT OF POWER?! Oh it’s ON bro. You already know things are about to go crazy!!!

Kaizen

Yeah, we Americans are a very capitalist and commercialized society. You guys at least, seem to appreciate the simple things that we usually take for granted. Damn it, I need to go to the Netherlands, Denmark, or Swedan one day just to experience the culture shock.

Shamir Smith

The discussion today was really interesting! I never realized how unusual American culture is compared to other parts of the world.

Shamir Smith

Shower products!? lol I guess Baby Showers are an American custom.

Oh boy the final arc! Where my dude Grand Priest gets to shine and we see the greatest arc of super. I can't wait for Maaike to see you know what 😏

Toxic Brood

We already recorded that, that was supposed to come today actually. I made a mistake uploading the manga canon since I also have an anime canon folder. It will come don't worry, we have seen it already 👍🏼 We don't upload regular fillers, but some anime canon episodes will be done.

Kaizen

Great aftertalk at the end guys! I actually agree with everything you said, especially the part about materialism. Maybe it’s because we’re born and raised around the Dutch mentality, but since I’m also of Moroccan descent, I’ve gotten to see both sides of the coin. Both cultures have people who are obsessed with material objects and seeking validation from people who don't even want to see them win. For example, spending all of their savings on a wedding just to flex on the guests about how well off they are, money that could’ve been spent on building their married life (like a house, vacation, etc.). I don’t mind treating yourself to something expensive now and then, but doing it just to seek validation from people who would hate on you whether you were rich or poor is the wrong move. Also, sorry to hear that you guys lost people close to you at such a young age. It really hit me when Maaike mentioned it because I too have lost too many people, friends from childhood who didn’t even make it to 30. It really rewired my brain to just enjoy life, seek happiness within, and prioritize the people who love you for who you are and your health. P.S. LET THE TOURNAMENT OF POWER ARC BEGIN!!!

Moker_B

I'm surprised you guys didn't at least watch the Goku vs Hit rematch 2 part episodes
