Her reaction to the kiss is still my thoughts on it. Toriyama never was good at romance stories, but there is one that he does that is actually quite good later on.

Then again, Trunks got blindsided and the twins decided to stop messing around as much towards the end. With Goku alive in this timeline and with 16's primary objective to kill Goku, this currently occupies their time. The future twins are different in personality, but they also have no real objective. Goku was already dead. With no good influences or bigger threats around to keep them in check, they probably just got bored lol. And Trunks traveling to this timeline must've changed some things.
