[Update] Sweaty Summertime Shrinking – another round of animating done

Another set of shots animated; 25 down and only 9 more left to get through.

There'll still be plenty to do once I'm done with animating these shots of course, but it'll only be a couple more updates until this main animation pass is all done.

Sole and Toe Prints Materials:

Apart from working through more shots I've also been working on some material/shader stuff too; namely adding some sole and toe prints to Lug's feet. I've talked a bit about experimenting with the process on bsky already so to recap the workflow:

I start with a heightmap that I've drawn up for the print grooves.
I then use that to displace a very high-poly version of Lug's foot via a simple geometry node setup.
I then take that high-poly version and bake it to a normal map, which in turn can be used with the full version of Lug's model.

I've gotten a decent amount of practice in with the process now, though actually editing the drawn height map itself continues to be rather time-consuming. I ended up spending quite a bit of time just redrawing parts of it to get better baked results, and it's something I'm planning on revisiting again once I'm done with animating.

What's up next:

As mentioned before, I'll be switching over to working on Perfect Parking Spot for a bit (and bouncing between working on that and Sweaty Summertime Shrinking).

I'm planning on working through scene-building to start with; finishing up the streets and replacing placeholder buildings with more destruction-simulation friendly geometry made from scratch. It's something I've already made a start on (the grey buildings on the left side of this screenshot) though there's still plenty to do:

Once that's done I'll be moving onto the actual destruction simulation and effects stuff. I'll be focusing on the main 'centrepiece' shot for now, the one where Rog stomps down on the parking lot:
