I spent time over the last few days working on technique. Here’s some progress photos. You’ll notice the use of washes is extremely limited as a wash is just lazy and usually ends up with a poor looking finish, I say this because I spent many many many hours training myself to paint better, learn more, grow further. I work really hard to do this and that’s what it takes. It takes dedicated passion and hard work to achieve your goals. If you are at the beginning of your painting career or been doing it for a while it makes no difference, if you want to get better you have to practice, train, learn all the above. Why do I say washes are lazy? Because you can do better. Just because you see the majority of painters doing it this way doesn’t make it the right way or only way to do it. Step back and look at the overall picture. Then step forward and look at that miniature again and see that in the end painting miniatures or models of any size is an art form and the arts have to be studied practiced and learned. No one can do this from the start we all have to learn how and we all have our own journeys to follow. Don’t be afraid to question your skill don’t be afraid to push harder don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Because you can’t succeed if you don’t fail a few times. Hope you guys are pushing hard and hope the videos are keeping you inspired to create.
See you in the next video.
Feeling a little weary but still full of inspiration, Brent
