Conlanging Case Study: Part 1 - Goals and Tense System

I sat down and recorded myself conlanging for 4 hours yesterday, and after editing the whole thing, I'm not sure if it's any good. What do you think?

I personally very much approve of longer videos from you; they help to pass the time at work ;P

Yeah, I've thought about investing in something like that down the line. Might help with a few things.

This is so great - I wouldn't worry too much about it being a little weird to make these videos at first. It's really different, which is a good thing; I don't see anyone really making a series like this, and I think you'll get the opportunity to master it and I think you'd become a huge resource in the conlanging community. I think it's so cool and helpful to see a conlanger's process. Maybe with your patreon earnings you could invest in a writing pad like a wacom, and that would make drawing on your computer for these videos really easy and simple.

I love this!

Graham Hill

Very different from your normal content but also good. I quite like this.

Marcus Khortain

I think the video is great fun to watch as well as a potentially great resource for beginning conlangers. I'd imagine watching a narrated conlang creation could help people feel confident with getting started on their own.

Joe

Yeah, that was an oversimplification on my part.

No intention to be pedantic, but not every single Basque verb works like that, bearing a mandatory auxiliary which acts as a single unit with the lexical verb. There is a minor category of verbs, called synthetic, which, astonishingly, may take the entire affix range a Basque verb could handle without an auxiliary. These tend to be common use verbs which tend to be used quite frequentlly, and most can stand on their own. Auxiliaries in Basque are in fact synthetic verbs used periphrastically. Anyway I think these goals to be quite creative, awesome work (as always)!
