Rendering tip: better textures
One of the first problems I had when doing renders was splotchy textures on the ground or walls. There is a very simple fix to this: under your surfaces, look for Tiling X and Y. They tend to be two different sliders or numbers and are usually defaulted to 1. Up that number and the texture will repeat over the object more. Try it for yourself and you will see what I mean. I always set the X and Y tiling to be the same number, so if I increase one, I increase the other. Be careful not to go too high though, as you will notice the texture repeating.
