AAG - Chapter 61!

The actual testing of the GODS net is done, my friends, now it's just the aftermath before we set a course for home. As always, let's discuss in the comments and thank you for supporting my writing. :-)

Random question, do you guys know if this is true, is AAG the longest running, longest Star Trek story (by word count) in the world right now? If no, what is, cause I'd really like to read that one.

You get the feeling that with Gothic around, Q's favorite has shifted from Picard to Gothic. It doesn't hurt that Gothic is more fun, and actually appreciates Q.

Durdens Wrath

It's sitting at about 22k words right now. :-)

I understand that you've got a lot of work to do outside of this but since you've push this months chapter to next month I am hoping it will be at least somewhat longer than the usual chapters just to clarify the usual chapters are always pretty hefty it's just that 2 months is a long time

stephen lyman

?? is something wrong, where's the update. pls let us know

dreadlord

No, I haven't. Joe in the past has usually posted by the 4th of the month. i hope he post soon or at least let us know what's up. I really like his story and I'm dying to know what's next.

gary jackson

Anyone receive word on the new chapter yet?

James Lector

Have you ever read Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Millenium? It’s a trilogy of books dealing with the Red Orbs of Jalbador.

James Lector

Woe, high praise!! Thank you, Jeff!

Joseph Orlando

I think this is your best chapter. Great touch with Howler and When Gothic use Emperor palpatine Line from Star Wars episode 6 Return of the Jedi

Very true. Picard's encounter with the Borg tempered his idealism. I specifically emphasized that in the last few chapters. The Collector Invasion changed him a bit. He did lose a bunch of people, after all, but the invasion didn't last all that long, relatively speaking. Thank you, my friend, for being a supporter of this story from the very beginning!! :-)

Joseph Orlando

Oh, thank you! I felt like it fit considering Gothic is writing the Harry Potter series and the youth of the Federation have enjoyed the books and holonovels. The Klingons are a bit part of the DS9 series and will play a big part in the Dominion War. I felt like they'd be interested in what Gothic is doing. Grilka will be happening soon and will provide some opportunities that would not have otherwise existed. That, I'm not sure of. I'm on the fence about the whole thing. There is no Borg, so they won't have that enemy to deal with, but they'll also have no quicker way home via transwarp conduit. BUT.........the Federation could get a much needed kick in the pants to innovate and Voyager itself will pick up a lot of new technologies along the way home. Gothic also can't use his slipstream drive to bring them back as that would expose his capabilities and get him hunted to the ends of the galaxy. But I could have an arc where he hits up a few of the opportunities in the delta quadrant. She's not dead yet. We'll see her next chapter. Thank for your longtime support, my friend! :-)

Glad you liked it, James. I like writing Gothic the way I do. He doesn't take things too seriously and he wants to have fun. I want my story to be the same, so where I can I like to make jokes. Glad that hit for you.

Joseph Orlando

Yes, pretty little lights in space, lol. Gothic is now realizing that being connected to Q as his champion, or whatever cosmic title applies, has it's downsides. Since he was not part of the original scheme of fate or in the timeline, whatever you want to call it, it's also not hard for high-level beings to see the source of those ripples and trace it back to him. Q is protecting him from interference or smiting him, though, but that doesn't mean Q will lift a finger to save him if the Dominion kills him. IT really is. We are playthings to the Gods and God help you if you're not entertaining. Being a petty bitch makes him fun for me to write. Gothic is an inherently logical being, probably chaotic neutral or good, and most of the time he doesn't use his power to go murder hobo for no reason, nor does he seek to commit crimes or whatnot. So having a party to work against him at these early stages is better for the story, which is why I like writing Pressman. Oh, thank you, I'm glad you like them! You'll have to wait to see if Donna gets railed on her desk next chapter :-P Jellico had his moments, but is an advocate for the Federation being tougher on their enemies. No, it's doing what it was designed to do. That shouldn't be a surprise. Being good at what it was meant to do, is not grounds to withhold his recommendation; no, he's point to the larger ramifications. Thank you for your support! :-)

Joseph Orlando

You and a lot of other people are happy about getting back to the station. I have mixed feelings, to be honest. The Voyager events are not something I know how I'm going to handle. I'm going to see where that chapter takes me when it's time. The Borg won't be an issue as they're not around in that capacity anymore, but the Federation does stand to benefit a lot from that exploration. I have never heard of that! I'll have to see if I can find it. If you have a link, please post in the reply so I can check it out. HA! I'm glad I didn't forget that. On such a long running, million word story, I know I've forgotten shit or gotten stuff wrong. I work really hard to prevent that, but stuff still slips through from time to time, but mostly on little stuff. The issue with the GODS net and Bajor is that literal god-like beings have a vested interest in ensuring their version of future events play out as they are, admittedly, in the best position to know best. So Gothic isn't keen on going against them if they still see that as the best way forward. He's going to give a hearty 'fuck you' to them when it comes to his personal security, but for that of Bajor as a whole, he's going to give them the benefit of the doubt. Thank you for your support! :-)

Joseph Orlando

Glad you liked the chapter! Well, you can name things even during the build up of the place. At this point, it's still pretty basic, especially as the Bajorans only have a handful of modern ships.

Joseph Orlando

Nice. I enjoyed the chapter. I'm glad they will be getting back to DS9 though. I didn't know Bajor had built a Naval Academy already. I thought it was just in the planning stages.

red demon

TFTC The romulans made sense, and I love that we got to see Martok, but I gotta say, I'm looking forward to getting back to DS9; Especially since, as someone pointed out, we're steadily marching towards Voyager I think Hiver's AI story might come close, and there's a Data/Tasha fic that's massive on Ao3 but I don't know if it's any good Sidenote, I ended up doing a full reread, and yeah, he didn't give Bajor a secret Papa Echo, don't know why I thought he did. That being said, I'm still in favour of a secret GODS net, just in case.

Mr Mouse

Who says that Gothic does not have a ship yard right now. The Minos AI "Carl" likely built one because, "How could your business model succeed without large scale manufacturing? After all Minos is "The Arsenal of Freedom"" and that AI is big on spreading Freedom to all paying customers.

Outstanding. Also I absolutely LOVE the shipyard idea. I know technically he has one on his island. But it's size limited. I'd love to see what he could do with a fully sized shipyard the size of Earth Spacedock or the Utopia Planetia yards. I dont imagine Bejor would object to having access to a Shipyard capable of producing ships at record speeds and customized to their needs. I also like the Delta Flyer idea. He doesn't have Borg technology (yet), but given his current technology and that he's exposed alot of it defending Earth I could easily see him outfitting the BDF with some 10 to 20-man ships capable of punching far above their weight-class without giving away his most advanced technologies. Hell advanced VI holographic crew supplemented by a living bridge crew and he could easily turn out Defiant sized ships with minimal crews. Shit now im imagining what he could do with a shipyard the size of Kuat at the planet he owns. It'll be interesting to see what Bejor thinks about all his recent shenanigans πŸ˜†. I'm looking forward to him getting home now that the tests are done. Great chapter.

Fortunis

Finally i got my big boom....and alot of little ones and a pretty light show, nice Gothic my boy, I would think you would know better to tempt cosmic beings even if Q was adding his own flare to the message....though it raises the question of how many such beings are watching you....but yea assume even pillow talk isn't safe......or that you may be the star or your own porn channel... The sheer concept that Gothic can command let aloneΒ  inΒ  regular communication with such beings is stupidity of the highest levels. Pressman has gone from being an antagonist to just being a petty bitch. Yea more T'Maz, to be completely honest T'Maz and Annika are two of my favorites for Gothic's partners, with Kira as a close third. ......are Moss and Gothic gonna have sex after the tests and everything is done as I get that vib I'm glad Jellico is now seeming behind the project. Yea, while Picard may not be happy with the offensive power of the defense net, he can't really give an objection on those grounds.

War sage

Maybe they didn't take offense? Would be funny if they again listened to Gothic and started making it so he keeps stubbing his toe, he is probably smart enough to connect that with what Gothic said and realize he is being punished. Heck maybe the right people in Star Fleet or the Federation gov are going to be embarrassed enough to do something by the way he acted in front of the Klingons. Acting that way in front of Federation people is one thing, an Admiral acting like a child in front of a Klingon General there on behalf of the Chancellor... Maybe someone will take him over their knee.

maddsloth II

The idea that Gothic could " command these god-like beings " is beyond laughable, and I'm quite surprised that God's themselves didn't take offense to it. They like Gothic, they find him entertaining amusing and useful. The end. They gave him a mission to live life as he sees f****** fit, and he's doing it. If he just so happens to have the personality to achieve the goals they want that's nobody's business. Lol but to command Q? Really? The only reason Q doesn't destroy anyone who pisses them off it's because the continuum doesn't want him to. But he could with a snap of his fingers. The sad part is, is that I can totally see someone like that admiral saying something like that in Starfleet.

TexanWarrior

Great chapter! Excellent joke at the beginning as well, lol! I have no idea if there is a longer word count ST story out there at this time.

James Wise

I did not anticipate a Howler from Q lol That was a nice touch. Another great chapter, Klingon's keep popping up, and If I remember correctly it was not to long after he returns to the station that that the whole Grilka thing happens. Speaking of her, her episode was a 5th season episode but Voyager was abducted in DS9 season 3. Is Gothic going to do anything to help Voyager and the Equinox? Or try and prevent their relocation? He could further increase his standing by saying he saw what happened to them from the Prophets and knew Star Fleet would not want to violate the temporal prime directive but still wanted to help so he could request to have Voyager take a shipment back to Earth for Bajor or something but actually have it loaded with materials to both upgrade Voyager and the Equinox, It Should not take to much to upgrade the Equinox's engines. Heck he could even sneak on both ships and hide a cloaking device on them and something to trigger a notice to let them know they are there to use at their own discretion. Also either tell the Equinox to hang around the caretaker cloaked and wait for Voyager or tell Voyager of the Equinox's heading and hopefully be able to reach them before the Krowtonan Guard find them. I am assuming the Rumanian spy is dead? Or are they trying to turn her? We have not seen Lauren or her since she was captured. It could be interesting, fitting even to turn her to learn more about the Romulans. Just learning how she hid that bomb would be a pretty big deal. Page 2 β€˜If the Klingons were interested, maybe we should be too?’ - should that be Romulans? Page 20 and we’ll narrate his progress as he does - He’ll

maddsloth II

a really great chapter as always!! I love it and i can't wait to read what might happen next month whenever it comes out :-), and Picard was always very idealistic and believed that federation diplomacy could solve anything if given time and the right approach, and without his experience with the borg to temper him he's having a harder time coming to grips with the darker side to the galaxy and that there are enemies out there who don't care about diplomacy and either want you dead or under there heel.

maben00

Outstanding

Joe

Thanks for the chapter!

outlaw

Thanks for the chapter. Yep that Howler is totally Qs style. It had me laughing.
