All the boring, seemingly endless meetings in conference rooms—spent with people I mostly didn’t want to be with—were worth it, I thought with a grin.
Now, I was exactly where I wanted to be, on the bridge of my luxurious warship, surrounded by a crew of brilliant, beautiful women, and in complete control of my life in a thousand little ways that mattered.
I turned my gaze to the massive holographic display at the center of the bridge, where a three-dimensional projection of my target slowly rotated in midair, the asteroid Eros. This? This was the fun stuff.
Of all the cool things I’d done since waking up in this Star Trek universe—and believe me, there had been many—this was definitely high on the list. Because today, I wasn’t just moving an asteroid. I was going to obliterate it.
Oh sure, technically, the Enterprise was helping, but still—I was going to soon unleash the full destructive power of the GODS net to utterly, fucking, annihilate this ancient rock.
Life was good.
I deserved at least a million-man points for this. No, a billion points!
Even with the real-time holographic projection floating before me, it was impossible to fully capture the sheer majesty of Eros. Large was a relative term in space, of course. Compared to some of the truly massive asteroids out there, Eros was only average—in fact, there were thirty-two bigger ones in this system alone.
Lauren, seated to my left where Counselor Troi would usually be on the Enterprise, gave me a knowing smirk.
“Somebody’s having fun,” she teased, noting my grin.

Some younger co-workers once asked me why I didn't decorate my office more after the second time it happened and I didn't have the heart to tell them that despite how much time we spend at work, it's not home and we're definitely not a family; that we can be let go on a whim. I hope chapter 59 uplifts you a bit!

Apps are what made the smart phone so indispensable. Thanks for reminding me of this. I'll see when I can work it into a future chapter. I want to give Annika some more screen time, so maybe I'll let her float the idea to Gothic.
