Clarissa's College Roommate?
Added 2025-01-31 10:13:26 +0000 UTCI have plans for college flashbacks, and Clarissa's roommate would play a part in these, that's why I keep bringing it up. Considerations:
Alli knows Miyuki from childhood, and this could get them into dares and other bad behavior faster. Also would give her something to do other than being a ninja accountant and only non-succubus natural blonde. However - the "present" is like the year after they graduate, and in the Oracle Sword Alli was handling pretty important business for the ninjas for a 22 year old. it's not a matter of how smart she is, it's a matter of how seriously others take her. Also, there's a separation between the ninja girls and Miyuki's non-ninja friends that I feel accurately represents non-overlapping friend groups and that would start to blur a little.
Angela seems to know and hang out with Clarissa in other stuff I've done, and this would explain where the girls know her from. My original conception for these characters (back in the 20th Century, it's been a while) was that they were all in college together, and Angela was there. However - if Angela is a succubus who's been around for centuries, why would she go to college now? It couldn't be the first time she's been, and she's kind of a mental featherweight for someone with that much education.
Maya is interested in supernatural things so she and Clarissa would get along, and this would explain where she comes into the story. However, wouldn't hanging out with the girls have given her proof by now? I think her character works best when she's always on the edge of finding the truth but not quite there. That and we've never seen the girls hang out with her. Also, since she's investigating ninjas and mummies and Aztec magical girl sightings, she'd enter the story organically that way.
Vanessa is also interested in esoteric and occult things (that's why she wanted to see the sinister idol) and technically she and Miyuki hang out at work. However - the point about separate friend groups applies to Vanessa as well. Also, Clarissa was pretty embarrassed when Vanessa caught her working out nude at the gym, she wouldn't feel the need to cover up if they'd lived together for a while. That's a more minor however though, it could just be that she's really just embarrassed at being caught doing things she shouldn't.
I was considering Mepara, but the timing doesn't line up, she was a stage magician and then got her own TV show, and it's not clear when she did this if she was in school up to a year ago at most. So I took her off, but if you really think she's best we can put her back on. Also, the girls are supposed to be star struck when they meet her, but that can be a running gag; that they love her on TV but repeatedly forget they lived with her for years.
a Shiny New Character can be designed to order; we haven't and don't see her often because she lives outside of the Bay Area.
Someone else - anyone I missed?

Or could be that Angela just periodocally re enters college under new alias, to scout a new enviroment so no one gets suspicious of the eternal youth. Maya could just have become intrested as she sees glimpses, side glances or just head scratchingly wierd things happen around her but not be directly influenced by them. With ninjas around shadows on the night have a different meaning. Which to vote... I need dice for this

2025-02-01 10:32:37 +0000 UTCThey all work with a "but" of some kind, none of them are dealbreakers. I just wanted to make sure everyone's making an informed decision. I feel like the residence hall staff would reshuffle coed roommates before anyone says anything, even if they claim to be cool with it - that's just all kinds of bad press waiting to happen. Now in a fictional world that isn't always logical things are different, but that's also the start of a different sexy adventure than the one we're going on. Also possible - Clarissa's roommate is a mummy pretending to be a normal person. I'd keep that for a character we don't see as often though, a plan I have that we haven't seen happen yet is that Miyuki and Lyta's neighbor is a mummy pretending to be a regular guy, and no one's noticed yet.

I think the main cast is all girls, which admittedly are more fun to look at, but what if Clarissa got paired with a male roommate by mistake? He could have a name more commonality associated with females and get assigned without checking the gender box. Clarissa is, for some reason, ok with it so she never reports the mistake.
