No strings addon for Wolverine claws
Added 2024-08-30 19:30:27 +0000 UTC
Hey guys, just a quick little addon on the wolverine claws. No worries, you don't have to reprint anything, this is just a little test of an idea I had to completely remove the need for an elastic string.
I have designed a new M1 pieces that you can just replace with the screw, and hopefully you won't need to use the strings any more
I tested it on PLA, but I plan to test it on YOU as well. I've marked it as experimental as i've played with it today, and so far it works well, but not yet sure how well it will hold in the long run, so yeah, let's give it a try, and see if we can improve this so we won't need any sort of elastic strings at all :)
FIles is in the folder under:
STL _ EXTRAS OPTIONAL _ M1

that is pretty smart

2024-10-22 06:23:54 +0000 UTCI used magnets under the trigger and is working great (attached one to the claw housing and two to the trigger )

2024-09-21 17:30:11 +0000 UTC5 mm diameter, 2mm thickness , forgot to add it :D

2024-09-14 06:30:19 +0000 UTCWhat is the size of the magnets used for the gauntlets? I didn't see it anywhere

2024-09-13 21:33:59 +0000 UTCI’ve added many walls to TPU to make it stronger .that should work
Josh Lange
2024-09-05 14:07:43 +0000 UTCworks a couple of times then it loses its stability
Galen Young
2024-09-03 13:08:03 +0000 UTCWork one or two time then not enough resistance and don’t hold the claws anymore
Jason Paquet-Garceau
2024-09-01 22:47:17 +0000 UTCyes you have to mirror it for the other side
Marko Makaj
2024-09-01 20:44:59 +0000 UTCI printed this out but I'm assuming it's keyed. I put it on the left claw and it doesn't fit. I'm assuming we can just mirror it to get the left side?

2024-09-01 20:29:48 +0000 UTCthat is good to know, thats why i labeled them experimental, will see if TPU works better or i’ll keep tinering on the design to figure it out :D we can always use string tho :D haha
Marko Makaj
2024-09-01 20:22:04 +0000 UTCYes. Worked perfectly for a few runs. Then after a bit they didn’t offer the same resistance. Great job regardless.

2024-09-01 12:48:58 +0000 UTCOhhh gonna use that way better than elastics bands
Jason Paquet-Garceau
2024-09-01 07:15:19 +0000 UTCyes, the only problem can be if its too flexible, so need to test it out :D
Marko Makaj
2024-09-01 06:31:24 +0000 UTCI have no experience with TPU, is it strong and flexible?

2024-09-01 06:04:10 +0000 UTCOk great, good to knowy thats why i called it experimental, will see if i can adjast the design somehow or maybe use tpu , its a trial and error process :)
Marko Makaj
2024-09-01 06:00:22 +0000 UTCsome feedback, i tried these out. with the screws. eventually these will overstress and bend after a few SNIKTs. Its kinda tricky because it needs to be stiff enough to hold the claws in, and at the same time flexible .. good thing i still have the elastic bands! haha
Crimson03
2024-09-01 04:02:03 +0000 UTCthese are great!!! seems they could be controlled by a linear servo..
Drue
2024-08-31 22:47:44 +0000 UTCthnx for the feedback, i have yet to test out tpu, but i think there is a sweet spoot there somewhere :D
Marko Makaj
2024-08-31 19:00:21 +0000 UTCIt works pretty good. I think I need to maybe print it with more than 15% infill to get more springiness to it. But way easier than rubber bands or elastic string. Awesome work Marko

2024-08-31 17:19:59 +0000 UTChaha i used those before, for some reason i like that string, but yeah, it would be better without it :D
Marko Makaj
2024-08-31 06:02:34 +0000 UTCLoving it! Pretty sure it was ur plan all along to turn us all into surgeons making us tie tiny elastic knots hahah.

2024-08-30 22:55:33 +0000 UTCawesome, next in queue.

2024-08-30 19:53:50 +0000 UTCWell done. Now to find the time to print them 😅
Babu Sabers
2024-08-30 19:45:37 +0000 UTCThe little half circles on the side of the blades hit the curved stops on the inside of the housing and continue forward with force to wedge when flung out hard. It takes some force to unwedge them and push back in to the housing. It could be the soft PLA and the tolerances on my printer at .20mm.
Rob Davis
2024-08-30 19:45:28 +0000 UTCThere are blades with extra stoppers to prevent that included, but i like the clean ones more :D
Marko Makaj
2024-08-30 19:39:29 +0000 UTCI will definitely test this
Enrique Hernandez
2024-08-30 19:37:01 +0000 UTCGreat idea! I have been playing with the claw and housing stops because I'm finding that the claws are "sticking" if I fling them out too hard.
Rob Davis
2024-08-30 19:36:25 +0000 UTCBeautiful great idea

2024-08-30 19:34:45 +0000 UTCPrinting now. Will try as soon as I get home
