Burnout is real :D and Cad Bane blaster

A weird way to start the post , right ? :) - but more on that later, i'll talk about the project first :)

So as some of you allready knew i was working on Cad Bane blaster for a while. Now the bad thing is even tho we do have some info about the blaster we dont have many clear images.

So what we do know is the base of the blaster is the Colt 1851 - so i told myself "I'm gonna build this one the way they built it for the show" - or at least try to :D

So what i did was first i created the Colt 1851 replica to work on as a base mesh, but since it was allready half way done i just created this one bcs i wanted to take a stab at modeling  3d printable historical weapons , so here is the first one from mysterymakers.

I liked it so ofcourse i gave it a simplified but still functional single trigger action.

Then i saw people used to decorate these guns with ornaments, so what the heck, i created the ornaments version as well :D  but be aware some "ornamental" parts are not suited for filament 3d printing, but i figured resin print fans will love it , and some parts are suitable for filament prints so you can mix them both.

That being done, i use the base mesh and logic on how they woud approach to build the blaster for the show. So some hard parts had to stay the same, and i feel pretty good about the way this one looks.

Oh right the Cad Bane blaster also has a "working"  trigger , just a little touch some of you might like :)

I have test printed the mechanism and it works, but will share more photos and elastic band i used in the following days, buf for now , lets print some historical guns and Cad Bane's gun as well :)

There are 2 folders - one is the Colt 1851 , and the other the Cad Bane Blaster, enjoy :)

(THE LINK IS AT THE END OF THE POST)

And the burnout - yes it finally happened, i was warned about it , i've worked for over 3 months straight with no breaks and then it happened :D i've found myself sitting at my pc starring at the screen and i could not produce a single thing. NOTHING. :D I've been working on another proejct that i might share later but i couldnt bring myself to complete a single part. Took a few days off, restarted my brain and abandoned all open projects and jumped to something new ( the project i shared now). So now i know how to approach all of it even better, with a healthy dose of breaks. FInally started hitting the gym, and i think the work/life balance is a bit better now.

That being said, my batteries are charged, and im looking forward to new projects.

SOrry for my long rambling, i might consider doing blog posts or video blogs in the future, let me know if that would be of interest to you but im tossing that idea out there.

However some online hangouts, where we can talk/chill, im definatelly gonna work on that and schedule something, so we all get to know ech other a bit more  :)

Happy printing :

How come I'm not able to download this? Not to be a complainer but feel like I'm missing something (a download link)

Brendan Sheridan

might not be a bad idea to check the FB group, peopel do share photos and progress int there , unfoertenatelly patreon is a bit limited to what we can share/post here :)

Marko Makaj

Got it all printed and put together. Looks awesome. How does everyone paint these?

Will Elliott

in this case i would go with super glue bcs you dont want too much of it leaking out, and with the pins and all the assembly should be rather straightforward, so just a bit of glue and that it :D

Marko Makaj

How does everyone typically connect all the parts? Super glue or hot glue?

Will Elliott

Thank you for the insight, yeah its true, a well made balance goes a long way , i’ll try to mix more stuff in, have quite a few things in mind, so we’ll see how it all goes :)

Marko Makaj

1. Great work as always, Would work for Some Fallout: new vegas costumes as well, my Son will love it. 2. Always Pace yourself, learn to push yourself away, set a schedule and stick to it, I've been doing what I am for 27 years in IT, and if you don't you won't last long in anything you do, love it or not. 3. I don't mind a drop off in monthly models, it's not like I can print everything you produce, and process it before you produce something else cool.

Well Armed Ogre

Thank you :)

Marko Makaj

sent you a message , unfortenatelly the patroen is 1:1 props mostly, altho i do add small scale printable stuff here and there as well ,, i’ll add the blasters fully combined for that case as well ;)

Marko Makaj

Thank you :)

Marko Makaj

WIll do, thnx :D i allready have a few next things planned XD :D haha

Marko Makaj

Burn outs are really hard to get over and can get depressing especially if it's something you like. Your health and passion matter to us so if you need a break we understand. We're here to support each other.

Cody Fry

Hi there! New here an I do things in 1/12 scale. Does anyone know to combine the parts of the Cad Bane Blaster into one piece?

Only Figure Fans

Amazing models! I find myself blown away each time you drop a new model.

richroks

Great work as usual...but take some time off...we all have lots of things to print :)

Rob

Cant wait to see it :) and thank you :)

Marko Makaj

Always take time for yourself. We would never expect you to burn yourself out for us. I'm excited to get that printing on the resin printer.

Josh Kellogg

m3 x15 screws - i added the text file in the folder, but will make another one with photos. basicly in almos tall my builds we use 8x8 assembly pins and m3 screws and nuts, will make a photo for those so its easier to keep track :)

Marko Makaj

Looks great, is there a pin that we need for the trigger?

Haskell Mackowski

You absolute freaking legend dude!! Even when I think I have a grasp on your abilities you blow me away!! I know I often praise your work, but I don't want you to get the wrong idea. I'm aware your human and have limitations. I just can't believe how good your skills are. Thank you for awesome props like this. Make sure you take care of yourself we need to stick around as long as possible

Tommy Martin

Look after yourself Dude. As someone whos hit burnout of 3dprinting that is my best advice. Colt looks awesome.

Last Phoenix

Love the honesty man! Praying you figure out the balance you need that works for you. Remember the worst pressure is the one you set on yourself. We’re here to support you. Would love to get to know you better online! ❤️

Santiago Gonzalez Perez

Take those mental breaks brother. We all need it.

Planet Kamino
