State of the Skeleton 7/25-7/29: Hoppin’ on the Bandikart

This week was focused on getting the Crash Bandikart video ready for an editor. As always, the script-writing process got away from us, but I’m happy with the end result. The plan is to have this video buttoned up and off to an editor by the middle of next week.

Special announcement: Podcast has been rescheduled to August 1st at 5pm PT! We’ll also have a special guest, read on for more!

Monday

Still a little tired from the weekend, so I started my day with some good ol fashioned emailing and responding to comments. Derek got himself up to speed on the final Crash Bandikart game for iOS, Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 2. It’s easily my favorite of the bunch, and happened to be the only game with multiplayer! Which is a shame because I don’t think I’ll be multi-playing it with anyone anytime soon. I feel exceptionally lucky to even have access to this game. Despite selling like hotcakes, it might be one of the rarest Crash Bandicoot games outside of the Zeebo version of Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 3D. It’s awesome that we’ll be able to give it some time in the sun.

Tuesday

Speaking of sun, it is very, very sunny in Seattle at the moment. It’s a bonafide heatwave! Despite the heat, we worked on finalizing all of the various game sections. They don’t flow together at the moment, but that is the meat of the script.

Wednesday

Finally finished the first draft of the script! It’s a honker at 10 pages aka about 5800 words. I’m guessing the final runtime will be about 30-40 min. The heatwave is expected to last through the week, but we pulled our air conditioner out of storage, which has been great for productivity! Very grateful to have one this year thanks to your guys' support!

Thursday

The main focus of the day was going over the script and buttoning up any issues. For this final phase, Derek and I read the script separately, make changes and pitch bits/stage directions for the video. After that first sweep, we went over it again separately, and then did it together one final time. I’m confident that the script is good to go now! Now all that’s left is to shoot it, record VO, and make sure we have all of the editing materials collected.

Friday

Today will be all about shooting the Crash script! We’re going to be moving Derek’s collection around and making the set look nice for the first half of the day, and then filming into the night. I’ll make sure to take a timelapse of us moving the set around for anyone interested.

I will be gone hanging out with my dad for the first few days of next week, so I’ll be writing scripts through the weekend. That means that we will have a special guest host to cover for me on Monday’s podcast; Kelsey Lewin! Kelsey is Co-Director of the Video Game History Foundation, Co-Owner of Pink Gorilla Games, and SSFF’s phone-a-friend for any Bubsy related questions! I’m really excited to have her on the show, so don’t forget to come to the Discord and listen to the recording on 8/1 at 5pm! I’m sure it will be complete nonsense.

Comments

Aw no Grace but nice new bubsy homie Kelsey.

Kelsey is awesome! I'm not much of a podcast person, but might have to take a listen to some of this one :D Hope you guys are doing well! Much love and POWER from the UK!
