New video!! More Bad Games [SSFF]
Added 2020-06-19 02:53:31 +0000 UTC
Hi all,
It's a new video! I feel like we have a lot to say about ""bad"" games. Punching Weight is all about that to a certain extent. But we had so much fun thinking about this video that we thought it'd be fun to do a new scripted show where we talk about games that are generally written off as bad. We'd probably bring back "Is it really THAT bad?" for it. Do you guys think that would be a good idea? What games would you like us to talk about if so?
It's 80F in my apt right now, so I'm gonna clock off and play some Silent Hill Shattered Memories on Wii.
Grace
I always liked doing that show but it seldom did well. I'd be interested in bringing it back scripted instead of a livestream format.

I do not think I've ever heard of or seen this game before. But there were lots of very weird, completely forgotten games on the original Xbox, I'll keep my eyes out for it.

Anyone who appreciates a bad game owes it to themselves to play Metal Dungeon for the original Xbox. It's weird, ridiculously long, there's a character class in the manual that I'm pretty sure doesn't actually exist in the game, and it's just a great/terrible dungeon crawler.

Lightspeed Rescue as a show was, as I remember it, at least a fair bit more serious than what you showed of the game. Not *totally*, because it's still Power Rangers after all, but this almost looks more like a parody.
I do wonder if you could play as the Supertrain Megazord in those fighting sequences, though, easily the best robot design in the whole franchise.

Is It Really That Bad? is one of my favorite formats you've done. I'd be stoked to have it come back!

You should start a "Number of times Derek has brought up Sweet Home" counter as a running joke. It's gotta be in the double digits by now.

Loved Monster Party as a kid. But you didn't talk about how the first level just changes once you hit that cactus tree thing :P

Jeremy Parish has a whole video series about the origins of Metroidvania games and in his Goonies II review he calls it a Metroidvania.
Also, it's great to see your genuine love for video games and your perspective on what makes a good or bad game. I mean, if you have fun playing a game, that's all that matters, right? I've found out about more fun games from watching your channel than any other channel or website. So keep up the excellent work of highlighting fun games of varying levels of dumbness!

I picked a good video to become a Patron for. I understand that you may not be a big Power Rangers fan, but there’s definitely a lot of games from the 16-32 bit era with variety. In that time you had:
Action games
Beat ‘em ups (Streets of Rage style)
Fighting games (including a full Megazord v. Monster tournament fighter)
Racing game
And a PINBALL game on PS1!
I don’t know if that would warrant a video (normal or Parreon), but just dropping my two cents. Have a great day!

Fuck YES, Goonies II! When I saw the thumbnail still, I IMMEDIATELY recognized Mikey. This was literally the first game my family owned... we bought this game and brought it to my grandmother's place who owned the NES before we bought our own NES. I love the game, despite the initial confusion of the first person dungeon movement, and that fucking skull at the bridge that steals my shit!
Then again, ALL of the games that were used for the Photoshopped heads I recognized and love. Splatterhouse was fun, Monster Party was always a game I rented as a kid, I thought I was the only one who loved EDF until Derek professed his love for it... though I don't know about the people who did the English dub of the game, saying to "kill the illegal immigrants" in EDF 5... one of the few things I really hate about that game.
You keep doing what you're doing, Derek and Grace! More videos about the weird and underappreciated games that you love are always welcome.

Yes please!! I miss "is it really that bad" I remember the one you did on Clock Tower Demon Head for ps1 when you were still HVGN (wasnt a is it really that bad, but was the general idea) and loved watching your reaction on that one. Maybe you can do that again for Stop Skeletons. Stay safe guys!!
Edit...After looking on youtube I guess it was post Stop Skeletons. Thought it was earlier. :)
