NEW VIDEO!! YouTube: A Horror Story | [SSFF]
Added 2019-10-16 07:18:53 +0000 UTCHi everyone,
When we filmed the Kenji Eno video we decided to talk about our update post from earlier this month, and then it snowballed from there. I'm sure you guys are sick of us talking about this by now, but talking about it on Patreon has been so therapeutic that we decided to put out a video for our general audience as well. (you guys won't be charged for it!) Hoping it'll help other channels struggling with something similar. We should have a video about Dreamcast Peripherals for you guys next week!
SIde note, for most of this year we've been posting videos on thursdays, though now we are trying to switch that to Tuesday because the YT algorithm normally resets on Sunday nights. It's been a bit rocky of a transition so far, so expect some weird posting times for the rest of this year!
Grace

2019-10-21 09:11:46 +0000 UTCI have been a long time fan but this is what pushed me to back the patreon. Thank you for posting this.

2019-10-17 23:45:15 +0000 UTCBeen watching since the HVGN days and this video moved me to finally back the Patreon. Keep up the great work and hopefully this helps give even a shred more peace of mind!

2019-10-17 21:47:19 +0000 UTCDiscovered your channel earlier this year and have since watched every video you've posted. I've tried watching some of the other retro-gaming channels out there and there's just no comparison. Your passion and energy is infectious, great production values, and I love the topics you've covered so far. I also really appreciate how incorporate each game's soundtrack into the videos. But enough about me -- keep up the great work!

2019-10-17 17:11:27 +0000 UTCI became a patron after seeing this video. I used to be a video game journalist, and our website got completely crushed and buried when Metacritic decided that they weren't going to list our reviews anymore for nebulous reasons. Publishers stopped sending us review code and copies because Metacritic was half our traffic. Never recovered and I've moved on to other things. I've been there, and I wanted to support. Became a Patron because this video really spoke to me on a personal level. Keep on fighting the good fight!
2019-10-17 15:36:38 +0000 UTCBecame a patron after your latest video. I love your work and I hope you are able to continue as long as possible. Thank you for the several hours of entertainment!
2019-10-17 06:16:52 +0000 UTCDerek and Grace, This video struck me because I did not realize how important Likes are to the channels themselves. I just thought that it affected what was recommended to me personally not that it affected what was recommended to others. Needless to say I will be sure to click that thumbs up on the content I like from now on. I have been a subscriber of your YouTube channel for sometime so I also need to go back and thumbs up anything I neglected. I have also become a Patron here at $10x2/mo but I have never encountered the pay per video model so I will give it a month to see how it works and maybe I can help more. I think there needs to be more videos like this out there. More videos showing the difficulty and dedication it takes to produce new content week after week. I do not think many people realize how difficult it is to produce content like this for a living outside of a larger often corporate entity. I don't see this a begging or whining but as a way to explain the process and difficulties of doing this for a living. Derek in the video you said that you don't know how anyone could start a channel now and I can tell you it is extremely difficult and nearly impossible to get noticed. I recently launched a channel as a hobby for myself and my friends and now after 6 months and with over 60 videos released we have only 1 subscriber that isn't someone we already know and nearly every video has 0 views. Not advertising here just sharing my own experience. Right now it is just a hobby, we never expected to be a massive success or make a living at it, we all still have our day jobs, but it is still frustrating to be completely unnoticed. One would think that given the number of YouTube viewers more than just one person would have stumbled upon one of our videos. But I digress, thank you for opening my eyes to some things I obviously didn't understand and please keep up the great work both of you.
2019-10-17 05:28:50 +0000 UTCYo Derek, Grace! What up? Welp...I've been thinking about this for awhile, and just haven't done it sooner due to my own financial restraints...but honestly...its overdue. I've been with'ya Derek since day one and have been enjoying your content all this time. I tell people regularly that you're my favorite Youtuber, and one of two people I have that bell rung on (other bein' big homie Nitro Rad). You are now going to be one of two Youtubers I am a backer of on Patreon (other bein' big homie Nitro Rad xD...signing up today too). I really do appreciate the honesty man bc...I had no idea. The lifestyle you described that yourself and Grace endure for the sake of your work inspires me. I do the same thing in regards to a really restrictive financial living. For me, its to get by...and get out of debt. But its been this way for years. Yet I do sub on Twitch to people here and there and it got me thinking that I'd prefer my money to go elsewhere. To you guys. I genuinely love your content. If I had any of the talent you guys do in regards to editing, script writing, etc....I'd be making the exact same content, I swear. You guys capture my imagination perfectly and I find it endlessly charming and entertaining. I'm giving what I can now, but I expect this number to grow out of sheer love for you two and what you do. Big up's coming from Houston, TX my friends!
2019-10-17 00:46:14 +0000 UTCI've been watching since the HVGN days and you've single-handedly gotten me interested in games I had never even heard of. You two put out consistently fantastic content and joining Patreon was my way of showing my appreciation for all that you do. Hoping for great things for you two into next year. Stay strong!
2019-10-17 00:30:41 +0000 UTCI've been a subscriber for a few months now, but I just became a backer because of this video. Happy to help support your great content!

2019-10-16 22:27:35 +0000 UTCSupportive fans, ASSEMBLE New donor here. You've both been doing brilliant work, and if my support can help make your lives even marginally easier than what the YT lifestyle demands now, I will gladly part with a few bucks per video.

2019-10-16 20:21:25 +0000 UTCI'm sorry you two have had to go thru this. Stop Skeletons (and even HVGN back in the day) have produced some of best and most unique gaming content on YouTube. I'm going to do all I can to make sure y'all can stay afloat and keep going, because YouTube- scratch that, gaming videos - wouldn't be the same without you!

2019-10-16 14:36:35 +0000 UTCI'm really sorry to hear about these issues with YouTube and raised my pledge because I think you really deserve it. Just love your videos โบ๏ธ I'm not such a creative person as you two are, just a "gear" in the system. But I love my job and think you too, so no one shouldn't be able to live from their passion. I wish you luck that your channel gets more profitable over time despite these annoying algorithms. With best regards from Germany (yeah, you're famous worldwide ๐)

2019-10-16 13:34:32 +0000 UTCyou guys have been the realist game related channel and ill never stop being a fan. i even love just the vlog stuff cuz its cool to just chill n talk about game collectin. also YYOOOOO we gettin som sexy nintendo peripheral reviews on pornhub??? ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ stop skeletons from HUMPIN
2019-10-16 08:43:49 +0000 UTCI donโt think so! On Vimeo you monetize by having people buy, rent, or pay a subscription to your channel... I donโt think itโs something many people would be interested in, and also I donโt think our content would fit in on Vimeo
Stop Skeletons From Fighting
2019-10-16 08:42:13 +0000 UTCWould it help if you were to also upload to Vimeo, unless YouTube has some sort of rule against it? You could have uncensored versions on Vimeo.
