Past Mortem Suggestions

Howdy! Grace here. I've been the main writer/producer for Past Mortem for the last couple of months, and I’ve really appreciated the response from you guys on the series.

Since we got the Dark Souls/Miyazaki video out, I've been sitting around brainstorming topic ideas, and then it hit me: why don't I ask our lovely supporters what they would like to see covered? Give the people what they want!

So here goes: What topics would you guys like to see covered on Past Mortem? I can't promise that everything suggested will get picked up or put out immediately, but it'll give me a good idea of what everyone is interested in.

God yes! And there's so much to talk about there too!

We're planning on doing a silent hill blowout for Halloween so stay tuned!

Ooh so many good suggestions! Nintendo power does definitely need some love and I that ACR engine is really worth looking into!

Since Uncharted 4 is coming out soon, maybe you can talk about why Amy Hennig left Naughty Dog to go work at Visceral Games over at EA to work on a Star Wars game.

Old School Lane

Kenji Eno and WARP's Story seems incredibly appropriate given the history of this channel.

Seconded

Gabi Mismash

I would love to see you guys finally do a video about Kenji Eno and WARP

Anssi Jalomäki

The Secret of Monkey Island!

Lucas frickin' Arts!

I'd love to see one about Silent Hill, how the series got moved from the in-house developers and how it got messed around by Konami up until PT. There's a lot of interesting stuff out there and I'm sure there's a lot to dig out that haven't been widely discussed as well. :)

Robin Hearts

Well, on the Reddit I suggested the Retro VGS situation. Now that it should be done, that could be worthwhile.

NightSkye

A bit of a different one, Kotaro Uchikoshi and his take to visual novels (999, VLR, etc.) He actually helped write many dark and emotional visual novels, and with the release of Zero Time Dilemma, it may be worth looking into his ideas, plus you can likely get in touch with him through twitter.

BeyondPolygons

Hmm...How about Sylicon Knights and how they made eternal darkness, too human, and how they unsuccessfully tried to sue Epic Games and failed.

Sid Meier, Will Wright or even Sierra.

The fall of Clover Studios and the rise of Platinum

Resstarr

I'd love to see a PM on the Kemko NES point-and-clicks (Shadowgate, Uninvited, Deja Vu)!

Kate Glasheen

How about Game Boy "remakes" Remakes of old Arcade games on the Gameboy but that are BETTER then the originals like the Data East games Burger Time Deluxe and Lock 'n' Chase.

Fumito Ueda and Team Ico and how they came to be.

Noah Sutherly

Hmm... How about the implosion of Infinity Ward after Modern Warfare 2's release? Or maybe the creation of Capcom's underdog hit, Dragon's Dogma. Kind of has an origin story not unlike Demon's Souls. (Guy has a dream; gets low budget; game becomes a hit.) Or, personally I'd love this, go into detail about the developer, Vanilla (i think that's their name), who made Odin Sphere and Dragon's Crown. Or the creation of the game El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron--the game is so interesting the development may likely be fascinating too. What about going into the nitty-gritty of Nintendo's (Rare's) touted ACR engine they used for the DKC games? Wait no, even better, a Past Mortem on the creation of the DKC1 and 2 soundtracks by David Wise. Or maybe how the Mario Bros movie was made? Or...hmm...the fall of that Metroid: Other M game? Some love for Nintendo Power would be cool too. Or maybe Square's decision to make that passable and decent cgi movie which probably would have been fine if it wasn't for naming it Final Fantasy.
