Review Bucket List; Let's Talk Super NES

Comments

Thinking outside the box here. And my three recommendations are Dragonview, Metal Warriors, and Alien 3. Maybe Alien 3 would be good for Punching Weight? It's an LJN game but it's actually good...if repetitive. But if you want good Aliens action on the old-school consoles, this is arguably the only good one. Oh, and the music is absolutely incredible! I would love to learn more about this game. Dragonview on the other hand is a surprisingly competent RPG. Side scrolling dungeons and the overworld is 3D!... Well, mode 7 i think. It's ambitious. But the combat is super tight. Hell, maybe this one would be good for Punching Weight too? And finally Metal Warriors. We all know why. Game's amazing and doesn't get much love on youtube, or so I've experienced.

Hey Derek I hope the subject isn't closed off because I have the perfect SNES game that qualifies for a Halloween video, Nosferatu.

still waiting for Calvin to review Earthbound

BIG DADDY DRACULA

Yo a SkyBlazer review would be awesome, love that game.

tetris attack is also pokemon puzzle league and a number of other games. i've actually never been a huge fan and it's not really a tetris game.

Stop Skeletons From Fighting

cave noire was something really really special, like sweet home. but for my own benefit it would be fun to play seiken densetsu 3 and if it catches my attention, i'll make a video about it. i've somehow never heard of treasure of rudras! that's going on the list

Stop Skeletons From Fighting

i'm really not very familiar with terranigma (not even enough to spell it right) but thought it was a pretty well-known and revered game. probably time i check it out.

Stop Skeletons From Fighting

you can download blacktorne for free on blizzard's website. like right now, you can go get it for free. but that's why it's on the maybe list. and i originally wasn't too hot on final fight 3 but i've gotten enough talk on here about it so I put it on the list

Stop Skeletons From Fighting

i'm pretty sure there's a lot more game after that!

Stop Skeletons From Fighting

i don't mind that movement in a 2d space. i played a lot those types of games growing up, prince of persia, out of this world, oddworld. i had flashback on sega cd but could never figure out how to get out of the beginning jungle area. but the first tomb raider has similar movement and it just does not work in 3d

Stop Skeletons From Fighting

there's a weird history with the arcade version of that game in that it has never been rereleased like TMNT, Simpsons, Contra etc. but it was a huge hit and is well-known. it was promised to be included in the xbox 360's Game Room app but it never happened, and now with the state of konami, we may never see a legitimate rerelease of Sunset Riders.

Stop Skeletons From Fighting

i bumped in to joey from 16-bit gems at a retro game con last month and he said that robotrek was the enix game for him to cover. plus those old rpgs are pretty long! soul blazer is definitely more my speed, but i'll add robotrek to the list because i've never actually played it.

Stop Skeletons From Fighting

I'd like to see your opinion on Flashback. I really like the almost grid-style movement, but it's similar in that vein to the classic Tomb Raider games, which I remember you saying you weren't fond of.

John Gabriel

Ah, I misunderstood the first list. I read them and thought, "didn't he already do some of these?" Sorry, it's late here in Ohio lol. I've seen so many reviews from so many people it's hard to keep track of them, and it's worse when you can't read apparently. Anyway, Final Fight 3 would be cool because it wasn't until I was much older that I found out there were sequels to Final Fight. Haven't had a chance to play them myself, have I have seen some gameplay. A closer look would be great. But I also REALLY want to see a Blackthorne review. I remember playing it on the computer on a shareware disc when I was a teenager, but it was just a demo. I loved the shotgun in that game. I've always wanted to know more about it. Wish I could play it, but I ain't gots no compooper.

Noah Sutherly

i have other plans for tetris battle gaiden ;)

Stop Skeletons From Fighting

I'd be interested in Illusion of Gaia but mostly for that first boss

yeah skyblazer, i need to check that one out, i'm not too familiar!

Stop Skeletons From Fighting

i've already reviewed demon's crest, ghoul patrol, and zombies ate my neighbors. you're the second person to suggest final fight 3 tho!

Stop Skeletons From Fighting

I'd say Demon's Crest, but didn't you already do all three games in one video? Was looking for something to watch, so I'm going to watch that video again now. If not that, then Ghoul Patrol. We all know Zombies At My Neighbors, but I think most people, myself included, aren't as familiar with Ghoul. And I would love to see a review of Black Thorn. I'd do a double pledge for that one. Final Fight 3 would be cool too.

Noah Sutherly

A lot of good ones, Twisted Tales of Spike McFang, Metal Warriors and Pocky & Rocky games especially, but I would also like hear your thoughts on Skyblazer. I don't have any clue if that game holds up, but I remember liking it as a kid a lot.

Pekka

It's always hard to find SNES games that are "underrated". How about Tetris: Battle Gaiden? I know you don't usually do imports, but you and Calvin seemed to have a lot of fun with it.

antontaun

A hidden gem besides from those already mentioned is Terranigma. It was never officially released in US. I don't think it is a "perfect masterpiece", but I certainly have fond memories of the game. I see it is under "Too popular?", but honestly, I haven't seen people review this game much at all, I think it deserves more attention. When I search youtube for "Terranigma Review", I don't see any videos with a high view rate or any "famous" youtubers having done it. I would very much like to see your take on it. Especially if you have never played it.

Henrik Johansson

Mystical Ninja, Sunset Riders and Soul Blazer all sound like great reviews

Would you say as different as the sparkster sequels?

Legend of the Mystical Ninja is a definite for me, though I think it would be better to do that in more of a group review including the 2 N64 games, since there are similarities and contrast. Metal Warriors doesn't get enough love either, honestly. Also, I know I said this before in the comments, but don't worry if a game is "too popular". We all watch because we're interested in your take of it. Thought I totally get it that sometimes you feel like you are just repeating information. I would definitely like to see how you feel about Actraiser and Actraiser 2. Especially since your Demon's Crest review.

Desdemona M.

I know that you said in the Sweet Home video that you would not focus on Japanese only games and RePros. But after seeing the Cave Noire video, it would be cool to see your opinion on games like Seiken Densetsu 3, the first Shin Megami Tensei, or Treasure of the Rudras. But from the list above I would say SOS is very intresting. I've heard about it before but have no idea what it's about other than it's a Human Entertainment game.

SephirothSword57

I'd like to see Illusion of Gaia or Lost Vikings! Or how about Tetris Attack?

Nathan Grover

SOS seems interesting from my research, though I haven't played it myself. Twisted Tales of Spike McFang would be cool. I'm trying to suggest games I haven't seen other I've watched reviewers do. I remember Shadow Run being dope. Maybe you could also finish Mario RPG one of these days?

Nico

Metal Warriors was one of my favorite games growing up, my brother and I would play against each other all the time. Plus, it holds up incredibly well, a truly underrated classic from Konami (and LucasArts!!!), that would be my pick.

if i recall they're both fine ports i just remember them being vastly different from eachother

Stop Skeletons From Fighting

oh yeah! i think that's off the table because i promised eric lappe aka goemon047 aka let's get!! he'd have dibs, but that was years ago now ...

Stop Skeletons From Fighting

I've always been partial to "The Legend of the Mystical Ninja" by Konami. I love the Goemon games.

Iceman2343

I'm actually interested to see sunset riders.Ive only ever played the genesis version and I'm interested to see how you think that lives up to the Super NES version.

i've never thought evermore was all that. graphics, animation, music, combat, mediocre across the board.

Stop Skeletons From Fighting

on a different topic, there was a rom hack for fester's quest released last month that fixed things so your shots went through walls and eliminated weapon downgrades. makes that game so much better!

Stop Skeletons From Fighting

I was actually going to suggest Secret of Evermore. Curious why it's in your "nah" list.

Holland Hume

probably on the maybe's. after Ninja Warriors, brawlers all seem kinda lame but Batman Returns isn't based on an arcade game so it deserves another look.

Stop Skeletons From Fighting

Hagane and Super Adventure Island 2 would be good reviews, most of those Addams Family games are surprisingly solid even Fester's Quest to a degree.

I remember from one of the your old reviews you showed a screenshot of Batman Returns I'm sad that this isn't on the list of To dos and or Maybes.
