Thank god for patron hay, besides retroware tv isn't the same any more ito and john d, reviews are going down hill, after season 3.

Tim J Green

it was amicable, i wanted to break off and do my own thing. it was around the time i started really considering dropping the hvgn. i needed to figure my own shit out and couldn't also concern myself with the goings-on's with the website. but again it was amicable, so when i officially left, i did it as quietly as possible so as not to create any drama.

whatever happen to you and retroware tv.

Nicole Mlynarczyk, not just Nicole if that's okay x3

Dakota Doe

I would enjoy a different channel made for the recorded streams also for Patreon exclusives maybe some vlogs and maybe a chance for us to vote for a future Review?

My name is correct :D.

Great! And again, sorry about that!

It's hard to think about a "game finds"-type video because that's not something I personally have any interest in. But I've given a lot of thought to a short series of videos or podcasts about my history as a collector. The idea came about early last year when I decided that I was going to get out of the collecting hobby. It's something I'd been doing since I was 15, the reality is that I've just about got everything I want! I've only ever collected games interesting to me, not just rare ones and definitely not "every game ever". I set parameters for myself and within those parameters I'm basically good. And then shortly after that I decided it would be better to save up for the move to Seattle! But I'm not against checking out thrift shops for possible giveaway. I think we were most happy with the Shatterhand live-action shots. But we intend on decorating the set with video game stuff. I would occasionally put little secrets in the background of HVGN videos and I want to do more skits and fun stuff with SSFF videos. There's a lot of possibilities in just set-dressing but for the time being we're trying to stay focused on pushing content out the door and getting some money flowing in before we make any more big purchases. The future is bright!

I've never really been able to display my game collection. For a short time I had a shelf I built out of 1x6 planks of pine (see: Nightshade video) but it quickly filled up. And even then I didn't film much in front of it. Grace and I have talked about buying floating shelves or a bookcase and filling it with game stuff pulled out of storage for set design but that's still a ways down the road. Set design is going to be a work-in-progress for a while unfortunately.

Wowowowow, thanks for making me your first, I'm working hard to make it worth your while! I liked the pulled-back framing on Monster Party if only so I use my hands more while I talk, plus is opens up the possibility of having props like instruction books or one day physical games. With proper lighting we can shoot in 60 frames, which will make my dumb ol' mug easier to see. I've never really a multiplayer playin' kinda guy but maybe this is a good way to start. I'll add it to the list! Polling future reviews is definitely something I want to do in the future.

If you insist, but just know I'm not asking you to do this! My paypal is arbitrationofexchange@gmail.com

My name is listed and correct, thanks!

Game hunting has been put on hold until our finances are stable, remember we've still only received one payout from the Patreon. But we've done of our apartment shopping primarily at thrift stores and I can never resist the urge to check out the dvd/game section. Against my better judgement, I've scooped a couple of games and game-related things for myself and as possible giveaways. But I can confirm I will not be collaborating with Seth.

That's a good idea especially since I've changed my process so many times of the years. I'll add it to the list, thanks!

Having a another YouTube channel dedicated to archiving the streams is an excellent idea! As someone else here said, documenting your video game finds/purchases would be very cool. As there are probably many people here that wish to start collecting, but don't know what to look for. The camera setup for the Shatterhand video worked the best in my opinion. Standing or sitting against a solid color background focuses the viewers eye on the speaker, whereas having other objects or colors in the background can distract the viewer from the speaker. Excellent work as always! Cant wait to see what the future holds! :)

Tyler Christian

Too bad you don't have enough space to appear full-body sitting on the couch, with your collection on the background. It gave a nice cozy vibe to the video, like you were just playing a great game and decided to tell its history. Don't see it as an HVGN thing (the wine were, though) but a Derek thing, and please, try to bring it back in the future (when possible of course).

Gabriel Duque

Honestly, I really liked the camera on Jumping Flash. It wasn't really a "entertaining" camera but being close really made your review seem to come more from the heart since you could see the micro-expressions. One thing I hear/see a lot of success from other gaming patreons is things that allow for more interaction between audience and content creator. Obviously there are streams and "game days" where they all play something like Team Fortress or Minecraft for a night. There are polls, early showings, outtakes, etc. Other than that, I've been really excited. You were the first youtuber I ever wanted to support via patreon and I feel it's entirely worth it.

Desdemona M.

I say keep doing what you plan to do man, that's what I always tuned in for. On a side note, is there a place people could donate directly? Maybe to avoid some middle-man costs and give in a lump sum. Thanks for everything man.

Mike Miller

Hey Derek, I feel some general vlogs would be cool to see, you could also document your Seattle adventures whether it's game hunting or just seeing the sights. I know I probably mentioned this before, but would you ever consider collaborating with Seth Boyer in the future? I know he's a busy guy touring all the time, but I really enjoyed your guys' chemistry on camera, especially with Quest 64. (Would you consider bringing back Is is Really the Bad?). On a side note, I always wondered if you guys made music together. I imagine that would be pretty sweet. Anyways, thanks for all you do Derek. Have a great start to your summer! (I hope you enjoyed my poorly photoshopped tweet)

antontaun

I have a suggestion, how about showing us your setup? How do you put together the mixer, capture console footage, stuff like that. It'll be nice to see. Thanks for the update, Derek, congrats on the Patreon results!
