Johnny passed out after he got unconscious from a sneaky hit.

Once he opened his eyes he woke up inside Dr. Doom's laboratory with lots of screen and gadgets the green mage had on his arsenal.

Johnny tried to burn everything away for his escape being useless since Dr. Doom deactivated his powers with the heat proof surgical table he was tied into. Before he could know, Dr. Doom took a surgical scalpel charged with his power to make it cut through bone painlessly and cleanly as it successfully did it, revealing Human Torch's pulsating brain.

Quickly Dr. Doom extracted Johnny's wet brain from his skull, taking it cleanly and save it or discard it afterwards.

Johnny stopped screaming once his brain was off his body and remained still as Dr. Doom maliciously took out another human-like brain, ready to replace the old one.

This initiation of a brain will make Human torch pliant and obedient towards Dr. Doom which will use this former hero as he pleases.
