A long ass post about the Patreon suspension and Alex's character (I ain't changing nothing)

You guys effectively voted for Alex in that poll i made not too long ago. Alex was always intended to be a flat chested tomboy styled character, and always will be. I was 

But then the suspension occurred two days after posting her design, which also included a nude version of the same image. This wasn't too surprising but no less annoying. The next week and a half I only got two emails from them, one 5 days after i asked for a reason for the suspension, and then another 5 days later saying i was unsuspended.

Originally I was gonna hold off and make them explain what the problem was as "Rape" and "loli/shota" in the broad "glorifying sexual violence" description they gave in my opinion didn't fit any of my work including the character. But I decided, given that February I was making a lot of moves to new platforms, it's best I have money for those options. So i opted to just delete the post with that character only and wait to see if i got a result.

A day or two later I finally get the second email saying i'm unsuspended and thanks for making the "changes". Being there was only one change i can only assume the character was in fact the problem even though they never answered any question i sent them. There's more absurdity but that's not the point of this post.

So what's going to happen to Alex?

The point is I got enough confirmation that regardless of design and context small boobs on Patreon aren't allowed (unless you make a lot of money maybe).

But I ain't changing shit, I wanna do a tomboy character and tomboy characters are best with no boobs imo. >:O

So here's what going to happen, as i said before in the new years post (i'm so sorry i haven't made a public version but it's been a busy month). I have roughly two options in the works for alternative income as I've never and still (definitely still) don't trust Patreon as an income source. And if I'm going to give projects involving Naomi and other stuff I want to do on my own time more attention I need a more reliable income options.

Alex is going to be exclusive to these alternative options when it comes to "supporter" content, and I'm not changing my behavior for public releases of that content. Which poses another problem. 

If Alex is a violation of ToU then that means, eventually I'll get suspended for doing content with her regardless. Because I can't link to somewhere with content that breaks ToU, and I can't link from somewhere with that content. 

But also that kind of rule is still shaky. If you follow people like Shadbase and Jlullaby you'll know recently their patreon accounts were shut down. They had patreon accounts for YEARS, and based on current rules, were following the rules, not mentioning or linking to patreon from their own content. But they were taken down anyway (Jlullaby allegedly for simply being associated with Shad).

So this tells me, if I continue with content with Alex it's only a matter of time until i'm suspended again likely permanently. But I stick to my guns on this, I ain't changing shit unless I want to XD.

Don't worry too much!

As I said before I don't rely on this patreon for my income, I rely on client work. This Patreon funds like MiNT my programmer, commissioning the music, art i don't specialize in and other stuff like web hosting. I personally don't live off the money I get from here, i put it to use so content gets made and I'm spending less money out of pocket to get it done. But i do WANT to rely on the patreon or more specifically your support so i can dedicate more time to the vision and goals you guys seem to recognize and support momoiro for.

By the time the content for Alex starts in ernest, I believe the alternatives I'm setting up will be functional. Alex will be exclusive to those services outside of public releases, and if i get suspended from patreon as a result of those public releases i probably won't care much lol. 

I mentioned the couple of options i have in progress. I'll explain those...

The Alternatives, Starting With Kupaa Networks

First off i'll be moving my personal website and momoirosofts website to servers on kupaa networks this month. And likely merging both sites into one through a new website eventually. Through out this whole process i've been talking with someone from Kupaa networks about Alex and the patreon situation and they've been very understanding and in agreement patreons suspension was unfounded. In short they've approved the character design as no problem. 

Kupaa networks will be crucial in offering a number of new things i intend to do. 

Remember the merch poll? Well that was a list directly from who I've been talking to with kupaa. So yes 3D figures and Plushies are within reach! But we may start small first. Do keep letting us know what you'd like to see by voting in that poll! In short our site will have a merch and game asset portal.

The next thing with the help of Kupaa Networks  is a subscription service through our own website. That means instead of having to use patreon to give supporters content, they can use our own portal instead. This will take a bit of time before i set this up as when i do it i want to make sure i'm ready to deliver a more consistent stream of content. Patreon support is one thing but my own service I think i would feel i higher sense of responsibility than i do now. You can get an idea of what that might look like by checking out hizzacked.

Through this service i'll offer some unique things like access to frequently updated web builds for subscribers, and other things better suited to a privately hosted website. 

Beyond working with Kupaa networks this month. 

Please keep an eye out for Red Lantern!

While I can't talk too much about Red Lantern since it's in development and a lot is still changing. I've been giving direct advisory to the creation this service, and I consider it very promising because of who's making it.

This is a service i intend to give my full support to once it starts, it's just that there's no ETA for the moment. But if you're an artist, or know some artists or game developers who's content his issues on other services Red Lantern is one to keep an eye on. Not just cause of that factor but because in terms of currently existing (but still in development) features it significantly improves upon the current features of any platform I've looked at so far for the kind of work I do.

I think that aspect alone will make it stand out among a lot of services, as plenty of new services are popping up to cash in, but none really offer anything that doesn't just feel like a clone.

So please keep an eye on Red Lantern, support it if you like (yes i get the irony) so you can talk to the dev directly on discord and give feedback and see the previews of development. I personally think the input that would be most valuable right now is that of people who support artists and games. As he's got tons of input from adult gamedevs giving feedback on the back end features currently, so even if you're just a supporter your input and support would be valuable for the front end!

What about other stuff?

Some people have asked that i make a subscribe star account, and actually i have made one but it's not set up. The reason for this is i made it before they got hit by paypal, and haven't returned to it since they got back up. But i'm also not sure if i want to do that just yet. 

I have heard some positive information about them which i think makes it more important that i wait a bit longer before joining in. 

To be clear i'm not interested in joining another Patreon. My content might be very vanilla, but i'm a hard line supporter for all art period. For me if a service isn't open, my work is at risk. For me, the line needs to be as far away as possible or I'll be forced into a scenario like I have with Alex. So when it comes to any new service, I aim to talk to or closely watch them for discrepancies or inconsistencies to determine my trust. Cause all it needs is someone to let their opinion out weigh their users and problems start all over again.

I know enacting patience while staying on patreon is a bit risky, but i simply have no intention of letting someone benefit off these issues and then repeat them even if it doesn't effect me directly. Cause it's always a matter of time once it starts.

I hope this post gave some insight into my mentality on this problem, and i hope you'll follow me to the new options i'm working on. Though it may take a bit of time for these things to get off the ground, they're a major goal and super important.
