I think in reality their reaction to Mark's claims to make sense (at least a little bit) but Elijah's acting is just so damn good that it makes it really frustrating to see them not trust him! 😭

RE the question of why the parents don't listen to Mark and are reluctant to believe him: it's definitely partly them assuming it's his trauma talking, but speaking as a contemporary of Elijah and Macaulay's (lol), it's also partly the time we grew up in. We were the last generation of kids whose parents didn't honor their feelings and ignored most issues we brought up in general. I know it sounds like an extreme generalization, but there was kind of a built-in mistrust of kids' feelings and experiences at that time. My two cents!
