The story and death of the characters in the drama may be fiction, but the painful history of Joseon (the invasion and colonization of Japan and other Western countries) and all the activities of the righteous army were based on real history. In fact, Japan and other countries invaded Joseon from the late 1800s to the early 1900s and Joseon was eventually ruled by Japan as a colony for 35 years from 1910 to 1945. Then, in August 1945, when Japan was defeated in World War II, Joseon gained independence on 1945.8.15🇰🇷❤️ So that day is the National Liberation Day of Korea (we call this day 광복절=Gwang-bok-jeol) Also that's why the period of the drama was set from the early 1900s to 1919 when the righteous army were active.
