NEW EPISODE: Meeting Blitzchung, the Hearthstone pro banned for his politics
Added 2020-01-23 14:00:04 +0000 UTCEarlier this month we travelled to Hong Kong to meet Blitzchung, the Hearthstone player who made headlines around the world last year following a post-match interview in which he voiced his support for the huge protests happening in his city.
The headlines, however, were less to do with Blitzchung's statement, and more to do with the response he received from Blizzard Entertainment, the creators of Hearthstone.
This was a complicated story for us to cover, as you'll see, but I'm really happy with how it turned out. This is partly thanks to Blitzchung being so generous with his time, despite it being the weekend prior to him returning to university.
It's also thanks to you, our patrons! Anni and I both feel extremely fortunate to be able to give a video like this the time and energy it needs. We could have spoken to Blitz over Skype from the comfort of our office in Brighton, but that wouldn't have led to the same piece. We needed to meet him for ourselves, to really get to know the person whose story we wanted to tell here. I think we managed that. I hope you do too!
