Update on Patreon's Rules for AI Creators
Added 2025-05-16 05:08:47 +0000 UTCGrok's TL;DR: Patreon censored my "Futa Selfie" post for "Sexually Gratifying Works," despite following their guidelines to the best of my ability (https://www.patreon.com/policy/guidelines). A new AI policy demands consent for hyperrealistic AI-generated adult content, not distinguishing deepfakes from random generation. My Stable Diffusion images, trained on 2.3 billion images, can’t be tied to real individuals, making consent forms for "actors" impossible. If Patreon enforces this strictly, I may be forced to find a new platform or stop sharing explicit content previews. Follow me on X.com and my linktr.ee for updates. AI content is a gray area with lagging policies. I use AI to explore new creative possibilities, but NSFW work faces unique challenges.
Well, Patreon in their infinite wisdom decided to censor another of my posts (the Futa Selfie one, content still in the Release Archive) for "Sexually Gratifying Works", which is weird this has happened a few times to even though I understood that I was well within the rules stated here https://www.patreon.com/policy/guidelines . But, I checked again today, it looks like there is a new section on AI that I didn't see before which I find very concerning, particularly: "Specifically for AI-generated Adult/18+ works, hyperrealistic depictions of people must be of real humans who have documented their explicit consent." I'm concerned since I just went through all this with 3 major players in the "industry" (which can't be named lest I call down the Patreon automatic censors). I posted videos on their sites only to be told that I needed to provide consent forms from the "actors". Well, there literally are none. I had some email chains with the moderators of these platforms who insisted that since AI is trained on photos of humans I need to have the consent of those it was trained on. I think they are confusing these with deepfakes, which are of course trained on specific individuals. But, Stable Diffusion (the model I use to generate my images) was trained on 2.3 billion images. Trying to suggest that clusters of pixels an AI software program randomly assembles and then compares against its training data to shape into an image of something that looks human can be tied back to any actual real living human is a bit of a tall order. It borrows the shape of an ear here with a freckle there with a nose there, and really, it goes deeper to a far more granular level with its random "creativeness". Basically, I was told that my videos were too realistic to be considered animation, though to the AI generating it, they are basically the same processes. So, this is a problem if Patreon cracks down on "realistic" AI creators demanding we provide consent forms for non-existent humans. We simply can't, so, we'll have to find another platform in that case. In the interim, if my posts continue to be censored, I may have to drop providing previews of explicit content. So, I suppose, this is a call to action for all of you if you want to keep following me should that happen, follow me on X.com and subscribe to my linktr.ee. What we call "AI" (i.e. generative/algorithmic image/video generation software) is considered to be in a very gray area that the policy makers (both private platforms and government) haven't been able to catch up with yet. As with all other things that were wondrously called "AI" in the past, they'll eventually become common place and demystified in our minds and we'll stop referring to them as AI. Until then, the shifting sands of this landscape may require us to keep on our toes. It is especially unfortunate since I just feel like I'm starting to find my groove and I've been finally getting comfortable with Patreon and building a following. I don't relish the idea of having to leave and start practically from scratch since it is inevitable that part of my audience will be left behind in the process. I got into this whole AI stuff since I was interested in making stuff that simply couldn't be practically made before. It was a whole new avenue of possibilities I wanted to explore. And I realize that comes with potential issues because of the NSFW nature of this work (and there are similar issues in the SFW realm, but to a lesser degree). Anyways, thanks for listening if you read through this wall of text.
And thank you for your continued support, hope you'll bear with me through all this.

Exactly, enforcement has been seemingly arbitrary. One post will be fine, and another similar one will get flagged. I'm walking on eggshells lately wondering what'll get my posts hidden...

2025-05-16 05:33:57 +0000 UTCThis is definitely an area of Patreons policies where even the people enforcing them don't even understand how they work. I hope things change for the better for content creators such as ourselves.
