Casual or Majestic?
Added 2026-01-08 08:30:01 +0000 UTCDuring the recent holidays I met with some of my old art school mates, and one female friend (one I value as a great art expert) was commenting my Monochrom picture of Maria on the nudist beach (public post from September 13th), saying that it looked too formal and posed, that maybe something more spontaneous.
Whenever I get a critic from someone I value a lot, I tend to listen.
Thinking about all of my photos, I can see that not all of them are so formal and posed, let's say majestic, others are more relaxed and casual, especially when a smile appears on the lips of my models...
Today's photos are an example of this contrast between slightly majestic and moderately casual, I'm glad to have them both!
Maybe I should post more casual pictures on regular social media, but I believe both approaches are well represented in my project.
Personally I like also the majestic pictures, and sometimes I have no idea how I manage to get them.

Perhaps your friend thought a formal pose was out of place in that location. Personally, I agree with you that both posed and casual each have their own appeal.
