My everyday car, the Mazda MX-5, has been in the workshop for over 2 weeks now, because I'm trying new mechanics and they are not very quick in their job...
For this reason, I've been using and enjoying the Caterham Seven instead, but I soon remembered why I stopped using it as an everyday car, and I clocked only 28,000 km in 14 years.
The seven is a strange car, everybody notices it when I'm passing by, but nobody sees it on the road, so on Wednesday a van rear ended me in slow traffic, just because he forgot I was in front of him!
It is also a very delicate car and, even if the crash was a light one, the damage is hard to repair.
The aluminum body bents and dents easily, and you can't just repair and repaint over it like a normal car, you have to replace the damaged panel, and disassemble the whole car to do that.
From Italy is also difficult to get the parts from the Caterham Factory in UK.
The body shop that took care of my car in the past changed owner, and the new one doesn't have the skills or the will to do the job.
Possibly the official Lotus dealer in Bergamo will be able to handle the repair, TBC when the manager comes back from China where they are racing some cars.
In the future I would want to use the Seven more, especially during shootings, but one has to be careful with it, because it is easy to brake it and difficult to fix it, and would be very expensive, if I had to pay for it myself.
Thanks to Bianca for this photo, she is one of the only 2 models I got to photograph with this car.
