2025-04-16 22:09:05 +0000 UTCIt was less stylized, but I have such a deep, life-long love of the 1961 version that for me, nothing will ever surpass it. I grew up watching that movie, so there is the whole nostalgia thing. I own the 4-disc collectors edition and I treasure it. I'm glad Michele decided to start with the original. That way, maybe she can watch the 2021 version down the road and see which one she likes better.

It felt less stylized to me. And the leads got to do their own singing. Yes, Tony and Maria were dubbed in their songs here. There's a YouTube post that shows the difference. Did you realize this was based on "Romeo & Juliet"?
