YouTubers are very fond of shooting lenses wide open, but apertures of 1.4 or even wider may have some drawbacks.
Focusing is very difficult, especially when shooting close ups on the medium format sensors of the Fujifilm GFX 50S II.
Albeit "Martin", the Zeiss T* 1,4/85mm Planar ZF (named after the Patron that sponsored part of the purchase) is very sharp even at the widest aperture, and the painterly bokeh in the background is very poetic, the body of the model is fading into oblivion too quickly for my tastes.
Not even the nearest eye seems to be in focus, even if it is, possibly because it is in the shadow, or because it is slightly behind the sharp eyelashes.
Maybe this looks good in photography of flowers or railings with "specular highlights" among the trees in the background or colorful Christmas lights, but for nude photography I feel the need to see more of the body in focus.
That's why I always tend to use f 2.8 when I'm shooting portraits and nudes, with most focal lengths, and tomorrow I will show you an example of a similar picture of Milla shot with the same camera and lens combination as today's picture.
