I think it's a function of everything being online and apps being the most common way to meet people now - you don't get a chance to spend time with someone and organically get to know them (and let them get to know you) like you would with someone you met through a shared activity or through friends. Don't give up! The person who is worth your time will spend the time to get to know you.
