Important update !

Hello everyone ! I hope you are all doing OK.

Patreon has notified us about an upcoming change that is about to happen and also let us (the creators) the choice to warn you (patrons) slightly beforehand. Which I will try to do here. You should receive a mail from Patreon on the first of June that will explain everything, but I wanted to make sure it didn't come out of the blue for you.

So let's take a good breath and dive in this together :

• Is something happening ?

Yes. Patreon (among other online services such as Ebay, Etsy, Amazon, etc.) has been mandated by law to apply sales tax.

• When is it happening ?

It should be fully applied on the first of July. (So, still more than a month from now.)

• Are the patrons or the creators affected ?

Well, only the patrons if they currently live in the United States of America (which roughly represents 30% of patrons, apparently.)

Europeans have already been paying the VAT since 2015, so they will not be affected. Countries outside of Europe and America haven't been mentioned as far as I know, so I don't think they will be involved at all.

• So... What is going to change ?

In our case, not much. And if I understood correctly, I would even be tempted to say "nothing".

As you might know (or at least, I hope you do) I intended this Patreon  to be some sort of "Tip Jar" where you can support me financially to help me dedicate more time to drawing. And as I've mentioned in my presentation, none of the content is "entirely exclusive" to this Patreon page. All of my works are published at about the same time on my Twitter, deviantArt or ArtStation. Even the few videos I've made have always been public on YouTube so all of what you have been giving me should fall under the idea of "supporting me" rather than "purchasing something from me". 

And this nuance should be the key element to all this. I have already been asked by Patreon what my Tiers fell under and I have been able to select "General Support" for everything. Which means -again, if I understood correctly- that none of you should have to pay more than you already do. (I can not talk for other content creators though, as Tiers containing more exclusive content and counterparts -even digital- will be more directly affected.)

All in all, you can be sure that I will keep a very close eye on all this to make this change as smooth as possible for you and I'm sure all of your favorite artists will take this matter to heart and do the same.
