In the Painting Journey Part 1 post I talked about my drawings in which both a figure emerged from a forest and the fragments of the figure created a forest around it.
Here is where I brought this to oil painting! This series started in 2017.
As you can see - there's a whole lot of color! I found color to be an expressive tool for my inner emotional world and expansion during this time.
This was a time of finding myself in the world - who am I, what do I value, what am I about? It was a time of independence and freedom. In a couple of these, you might begin to see the feeling of butterfly wings emerging from the figures and the negative spaces of the trees. (This becomes more important in a later stage of my painting journey!)
