Why Haven't You Joined Our Patreon?

The title seems aggressive, but we're curious why FREE members haven't joined our Patreon tiers. Feedback from our fans is essential. While we want to make sure our Patreon reflects the things we love, hearing what would interest and entice you to join is also helpful.

If you're already a member of our Patreon but would like to contribute some feedback, please participate in the poll and elaborate on your choice in the comments below. Feedback is beneficial and strongly encouraged by all.

Replying to this months after the original posting because I still hold out hope that one day you'll react to Star Trek. You do TNG, SNW, heck, even the first couple seasons of DSC, and I'm back!

Erin Mayes

Sob story aside, it's due to money reasons- I'm a broke college student lol. I only set some $$ aside to watch The Boys uncut reactions. I'll come back after the new seasons are uploaded until then after my subscription is over with, I'll be a free member just sending love <3

londonrials

It's almost like a reminder for myself. I feel bad that I wasn't following the YT channel for years, and then I joined the Patreon, and I just haven't pledged $ yet. I was getting ready to, and then I broke my foot, so I'm out of work for over a month. The ones I'm currently supporting I know are significantly smaller creators. When I'm feeling more financially secure, I'm happy to contribute!

Dan Nye

I was a Patreon because I wanted to watch your Echo Reactions (like other marvel shows before) and I waited for a month or two and you never finished the series. So I quit and never came back because there was never an answer if you would finish it.

NatashaR26

On old videos we used the streaming service logo as a sync point.

Heroes Reforged

Have you started putting a couple seconds of footage at the beginning? I was watching the Boys and you had no footage to sync up to.

Ghost Mom

Help?

Heroes Reforged

Guys!!! I dip in when you’re watching a show I’m into or I feel like binging something old. I just can’t afford to support everyone I love every month. I think I’m subscribed to maybe 10 different reaction based patreons. And they all rotate. But I try to engage with all your content on YouTube to help with the algorithm and all that. Love yall!!!

Ashley Garbs

Two of the options were the driving forces for me: financial reasons and not interested in the rewards. However, I’d like to tell you more because before I sat down to reconsider the Patreon subscriptions I’m paying for, I was actually considering going for a higher tier on Heroes Reforged because of rewards. Ultimately, I did need to review and make choices about my Patreon subscriptions for financial reasons and HR was one I stopped paying for because I wasn’t watching the shows you were BUT also because it was hard for me to settle into watching the videos. You all actually influence me to want to watch shows I’m not initially interested in but I prefer watching reactions that have more of the show or movie on your screen and chapters in our videos. I can’t remember if you post YouTube videos to Patreon (so one could open the video in YouTube from Patreon) but all I mean to say is especially longer videos with good chapter breaks which I know you can do with YouTube videos is so helpful for me as a viewer. Now, it may be harder if you’re not scripted like a video essay. The closest example to you might be Blind Wave that I think does good chapters though another reason they do chapters I guess is because of longer conversations after the reactions. And then having to sync to a second screen is too much for me. I love watching reactions and you all were a huge part of me getting into them so I think I’d rather watch your actual reactions with a small screen of the show or movie in the video. Not sure if that’s doable/legal. I watch old reactions over and over! Ok though I wasn’t watching the reactions and found it hard to keep up with Discord (which I basically had because of Heroes Reforged), I was getting into the Czechxicans podcast. That seemed more my speed and was where I was considering a higher tier. Why? Because I wanted to send you questions! ☺️ looking at the tiers now, looks like that’s not an option? I did notice that you’re taking super chats on YouTube lives so I don’t know if that’s the replacement or not. I do find watching the managing of super chats on live so distracting that, without the addition of video chapters in a final video version, makes it hard for me to watch the video with full attention. But, I can understand that being an easier/better way on your end to take questions. Overall, just you asking this question was good for me to review my subscriptions again and glad you’re looking for feedback. This work you’re doing isn’t easy for a variety of reasons so I want to let you know it really changed my life for the better after both getting into the MCU and comics in 2021.

Aden Hailemariam

Yes (with one caveat I'll get to at the end)! I love when you're all together, especially if one or more of you haven't watched a thing, but (as an example) when one of you gets back from a trip and then does his own reaction to an X-Men 97 episode, that can also be really fun. Caveat: I say this but don't want Hector to be off the hook from watching scary things with you guys because those reactions are ̶ ̷p̷r̷i̷c̷e̷l̷e̷s̷s̷ worth the price of a Patreon subscription alone!

TreehouseOfJorge 4 - Resurrection

Hmm, we haven't watched Wheel of Time, and I think most of our reactions skew towards live-action. Maybe I'm mistaken.

Heroes Reforged

There's variety stuff we've put on the backburner that we're looking to get to in the coming months - especially more animation.

Heroes Reforged

Love your reactions to Rings of Power, Wheel of Time, Fallout, The Boys, House of Dragons, etc. I love how refreshingly positive you guys are. I’m just not a fan of animated shows and that’s a huge chunk of your content. I’ll continue watching on YouTube instead of subscribing here.

J P

Thanks for the response. I do understand that part of it, but most reaction style patreons if not all patreons are attempting to make money off of someone else's basically 'showing' and charging for some else work. That said just because censor content for copyright doesn't mean I won't subscribe. Right now I am a member of the Normies. They just put out way more content then you, and more content I am interested in at the same price as you guys. I know the Normies have a staff of like 8-10 people on and behind the camera. I believe it's just the Three of you, so maybe you guys should get some help with editing content and to put together a schedule so you can put out more reactions to different stuff.

John

Makes sense. Gotta take care of you first.

Heroes Reforged

I used to support several people on Patreon, but then they did a huge raise on my income-based rent, my internet and car insurance. SMH. Until something changes I won't be able to support anyone for a while.

Cassie Banks

Ah yes, I meant Season 4, not 3, but thank you for addressing that as well. Increased variety would be welcome, but I feel like it’s a double-edged sword. If you guys react to something purely for the sake of variety, and it’s not a show any of you have interest in, that disinterest is going to be apparent in the reaction and the channel would suffer for it, I think.

Michael Jaquez

i was really looking for a early access where i don't have to have a separate screen for watch a long most of the reactors i sub to have the full length with full show and reaction one screen

Dc Jerome

I’m happy with everything that youre reacting to and watching. You guys have given me the drive to watch shows and keep up week to week! Keep it up brochachos!

McDudely

We've got season 1-3 + Diabolical of The Boys on here. We just need to catch up on Gen V Season 1 and The Boys S4. Definitely have plans to do the rest of the Ghibli Collection, and we're talking about Blue Eye Samurai. I would also like to have more variety outside the big three brands.

Heroes Reforged

Yes, guest reactors would be great too.

Robert von Heeren

Been a long time fan but me not coming back for now is the lack of diverse content don’t get me wrong I love marvel and dc stuff but I would like to see more than that but I’ll continue to support you on YouTube

Ruben

Issue for me is that, right now, there isn’t much you guys are watching/reacting to that I’m interested in. What happened to the Boys Season 3? Or Season 1 of Gen V? Are there any plans to continue reacting to Ghibli movies or other anime? Personally, I would LOVE a reaction to Netflix’s Blue Eye Samurai, it’s every bit as gorgeous and excellent as Arcane was. It just seems that 90% of the content these days has been pigeonholed to be either Star Wars or Marvel, which has been a little disappointing.

Michael Jaquez

Definitely!! The dynamic between the 3 of you is great, but I would totally watch if it was just one or two of you for the occasional show or movie. I would also be open to you guys having guest reactors join you. Either someone who is being introduced to something for the first time. Or someone who is a superfan of the franchise you guys are watching (like you did for DBZ) and rewatching something or watching a new release for the first time. Like for S1 of HOTD you could have had a guest who watched GOT and could give you insights or explain things like Agustin does during LOTR things.

Ben Jack

And if you are looking for ideas for what some of that stuff could be that falls more into the podcast realm, here are a couple formats that I really love. -- WHAT WE ARE EXCITED ABOUT -- My favorite examples of this format are the Hype Meters they do on "THE RINGER-VERSE" and "HOUSE OF R" where the hosts alternate doing a round-robin countdown of their personal top 10 most hyped things coming out soon. They work as a great preview of the stuff they will be covering soon. But they also include things they don't plan to cover (books, comic books, video games, non-nerd shows/movies, etc). It is a great way to get recommendations for things you might not be aware of and a good insight into the host's interests outside of what they cover for the podcast. Plus it's always fun to see where the things you are most excited about fall on someone else's list. -- DEBATES -- My favorite example of this is the "TRIAL BY CONTENT" podcast on The Ringer (a reference to "trial by combat" in Game of Thrones). They choose a topic based on something that comes out that week, debate it, and then put a poll on Twitter for the listeners to decide who wins. For example, their most recent episode was "What is the worst digital resurrection?" – inspired by Alien: Romulus. They start each episode by reading the results of the poll for the previous episode and announcing which one of them won. Then they discuss their thoughts on the movie or show and explain how it inspired the debate topic. Then for this one they did a brief history of digital face replacement in film before each presenting their top 3 choices (including ones submitted by listeners). The 3 of them then debate, each deciding on their top choice, and also picking their favorite listener submission, and then put those 4 options into a poll on Twitter. And then they finish the episode by telling you the topic for next week so you can submit your own pick to possibly be included. They also do fun things like give out awards like "The Nice Try Award" for their favorite listener submission that didn't fully meet the prompt, but almost did. For "worst digital resurrection" they gave it to someone who submitted "Henry Cavill's clean-shaven upper lip". What I think is really successful about this format is that it is both topical and has a main topic that can be more evergreen. It includes listener opinions but in a curated way. It follows a consistent and tight format. It gives you a little bit of a history lesson. It has a listener interaction with the voting in the poll. And it has a hook where you need to listen to the beginning of the next episode to hear them announce and discuss who won. -- Mentioning these just to hopefully get those creative juices flowing!

Ben Jack

I'm currently in the HOMIE tier, but "Not Watching Stuff I'm Interested In" would be closest to the reason in the past that I would bounce around between tiers. And it wasn't as much that you guys weren't covering the shows that I was watching (there are only a handful of shows over the last few years that I would have watched reactions to that you guys didn't cover – Shōgun, Blue Eye Samurai, Silo, Yellowjackets, 3 Body Problem, Slow Horses) but moreso that at times I WAS watching some of the shows you were reacting to, but wasn't invested enough in them to do full watch-alongs. And when that was the main benefit of the Patreon, I would downgrade if I realized I wasn't watching anything on it. (I don't envy the uncertainty of having your content's popularity depend on the quality of new shows and/or the fandom's hype for it – ah, the glory days of early Disney+ Marvel and Star Wars...) But, over the years, I have grown to love the community you've created on Discord (especially as Twitter became more of a hellscape) and always enjoy your discussions, opinions, and insights – even on things I'm not watching – and subscribe to support that. But I love that you have talked about branching out into other kinds of content in addition to your reactions. Excited to see what you do!

Ben Jack

I did sign up, but under a different username because I had to change cards for security reasons. However, I’m just not into any of the stuff (besides the catch up on Visions 2.) But I trust y’all enough to try. And I still don’t like Brussel Sprouts- I mean LOTR stuff.

BrianRobert Campbell

Yes, why not? Although I like reactions of you three, I liked solo or two of you reactions too (which already happened sometimes due to vacations and so on). It would make it easier for you to plan and sometimes focus on your special interests, e.g. Hector on Star Trek and so on.

Robert von Heeren

A follow-up question: Would you be interested in reactions that don't feature all three of us? Example: Adam watches THE EXORCIST show by himself.

Heroes Reforged

For me it's the first 3 of the 4 options. A big consideration is the amount of streaming services I would need to have on top of also subscribing to the Patreon isn't worth it.

Joel Cleasby

I'm normally a Patreon on any tier, because I love you. But some reasons made me pause sometimes: some financial empass, but that alone was not enough to pause. There were longer breaks (e.g. due to the strike, which I totally understood) and no reactions to the shows that I did love and would have liked to watch the uncuts. Also: Sometimes no specific info when you would resume some shows, no schedule (also on Discord), so I felt a bit lost. But: those were very special times (incl. "life stuff") and they are past us. The choices you made recently with Patreon, Discord, schedule and so on, make me very happy. Please forgive me, when I'm not interested to watch some more graphic shows like The Last of Us or similar, not my taste, especially in recent times in which I was mourning a deep loss for almost a year. But now all is good again. Besides of that: Blurring the video during the whole reaction would really help in cases of some sync issues, it saved me e.g. during early S&L reactions.

Robert von Heeren

Thank you! 🙏

Heroes Reforged

I’m not really fussed with rewards, interaction or community. I simply adore watching along with you three so damn much, I get WAY more than my money’s worth. The system works great and now it’s a bummer watching anything without you. I’ve started watching shows I’d skipped, just to access your enthusiasm, appreciation and unbridled joy at discovering moments and characters. Please keep doing what y’awl do.

Nige AF

Oh, absolutely. We just had this conversation internally the other day about revisiting movies and shows we've already seen. Beetlejuice is the perfect example of joking I've seen it over 167 times (I probably have), but I love it so much. I love sharing my enjoyment and love for that film with others, so I don't mind doing another rewatch of that for the internet. We're also trying to align certain rewatches to coincide with the upcoming release of a new film. Revisiting Jurassic Park would be something we'd do as a lead-up to the latest movie coming out in July 2025.

Heroes Reforged

That comment got posted a bit early, but like I said, I totally get following what your audience is interested in and I don't blame y'all for it a bit. I wish I had live-action shows to suggest, but the current batch is just not it for me and we can't watch what doesn't exist.

J

Hmm, yeah, that's strange. We do our best to ensure that whatever we're uploading is within the guidelines of Patreon's upload requirement. So, you shouldn't have any buffering or playback issues.

Heroes Reforged

A limited income was the driving force, but I'd observe that your initial watchlist of Star Wars & Marvel cinema related content was what interested me most. As that dried up, so did my interest. I second the observation by another commenter that syncing up your commentary became problematic at times: your feed seemed to randomly freeze, despite my pretty good cable ISP near GB download bandwidth; perhaps that is a Patreon issue]

Robin Downey

Animation has been a mixed bag for us. X-Men 97 did really well for us, but everything else is a mix. Lots of folks didn’t watch Terminator.

Heroes Reforged

Well, most of the new and upcoming things I care about are into second, third, or more seasons, and I know that's logistically difficult to jump into. The Legend of Vox Machina s3 is coming in October, and I know that if y'all watched any of TLoVM, the Critical Role fans would find you. S2 of Castlevania: Nocturne is happening at some point this year (probably) but is there enough of your audience interested to justify watching any of that? I don't know. ETA because I hit enter too early: What I do know is that I first joined back in the watch of the original X-Men animated series, and some of the things I've enjoyed the most and gone back to watch again were when y'all watched Ghibli films during the strike. When the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice trailers were first dropping, yours is the first channel I looked at because I knew you'd have something interesting to say about the effects. To me, it matters less that the thing you're watching is new than that the thing you're watching is something you enjoy or have something to say about. I'm sure you've all seen, idk, The Mummy (the original one) and Jurassic Park, but I'd definitely listen to your commentary just because I think it would be a good time. Maybe there's room in your schedule for some throwbacks or some "showing one of the guys a classic he hasn't seen"? Because I've always found those to be a good time.

J

Let us know what kind of shows/movies!

Heroes Reforged

Doctor Who Your solution is good!

monguru (Rose Tyler fan)

We usually show the first 20-30 seconds and then swap to a time code that’s in sync with the source content. What’s DW?

Heroes Reforged

Besides the fact I'm on a limited income, the idea of having to watch any movie or show just so I can watch your reactions doesn't appeal to me. I usually watch the YouTube versions while playing various games. Besides the fact I watch multiple reacters for the same movie or show, means I couldn't watch the full reaction for everyone unless I watch the movie or show over and over again for every channel. So, a single 2 hour movie now becomes a 6 hour watch for just my main 3 channel (you guys, Omn1media, and P'review). That's way too much time, when I can watch the condensed version on YouTube. Sorry.

Paul Arias

I am on a paid tier because I want to support you guys, but I admit I'm not watching very much because you're just not watching much that I'm interested in. I know that getting on current shows is important for staying with trends, but there's not much coming out right now that I care that much about. I don't know that I'll be staying on a paid tier after the price jump, because it would be hard to justify $10 a month for something I'm not watching. Maybe I'd rejoin if there was something I really wanted to see, but right now it would be hard to justify it. No hard feelings about it, and I'd definitely jump back in if there was a show I really cared about hearing your thoughts on, but it's just a little much for something I'm not actively watching.

J

I watch the DW reactions, and they get it right everywhere, they start the episode, and after a few seconds they blur the picture, cut the sound, and I can watch my own copy on split screen, in sync with the reactors (so much better user experience and the reactor doesn't infringe on rights!)

monguru (Rose Tyler fan)

Is that legal? Sharing the whole of the content with the reaction? I’ve seen it too but only with relatively small creators who attract less attention. I truly don’t know tho just curious.

crftd

😂 you got me

Heroes Reforged

Unfortunately, we don’t have the rights to show what we’re watching. If there was a way to pay studios a licensing fee to make that possible, we’d definitely consider it. Other Patreon pages that do that are not doing it legally. If we were to be audited by any studios’ legal department, they would serve us with a cease and desist or shut our page down completely. Makes it hard to want to roll the dice on something like that.

Heroes Reforged

There are quite a few reasons and you aren't the only patreon. The big issue is money especially for patrons who blur or don't show the film/tv series they are watching. I am sorry, but if I have already paid $15 to $20 to see a film in the theater, paid anywhere from $20-100 for a blu-ray film/series or at least $10-20 a month for a streaming service without adds, and then usually $10 a month for a patreon membership then I expect a few things. One being a steady to regular updates a week. Two being that I am more likely to become a member if you do not censor films ot TV series. I have become a member for many patrons who don't censor and give full assess to TV and films. Third and finally I have to really enjoy the pareons personality, analysis and opinions of the films/TV shows they are watching. Unfortunately for you guys you only fall into one of those categories, with me enjoying your personalities and views. I could go on, but this comment is already long enough. Anyway I wish you guys the best going forward, and I might become a member again, but as of right now I will continue to lurk.

John

Gotcha. Yeah, this was a big reason why we wanted to bring highlights to Patreon. There’s a lot of stuff coming starting this month.

Heroes Reforged

Yeahhhh I was just screwing around

Christian Kavanagh

😂 😂 😂

Heroes Reforged

Haha did you read the entire prompt?

Heroes Reforged

Makes sense. The highlights weren’t really a perk previously, which is why we incorporated them and have a lot of stuff coming that’ll be on Patreon earlier than on YT

Heroes Reforged

Hmm interesting. Not even having footage at the beginning makes it easy? What do other channels do that makes it easier?

Heroes Reforged

I'm an avid Doctor Who fan and I just happened to be here. But someone mentioned WandaVision! I might be tempted...

monguru (Rose Tyler fan)

Going back and watching y'all lose your minds over Wandavision numerous times easily covers my monthly fee 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Vertical Content Kings!

Justin Perlow

I subbed for a month then immediately unsubbed because your videos are not easy to sync to at all compared to other reactors.

Ghost Mom

To be frank, I just don’t have time to rewatch an entire tv series with you guys and the edited highlights are posted very rarely and usually just straight to YouTube anyways

Matthew Cronin

Subscribed to the tiers, it can definitely be a thing that gets weighed each month depending on content/financial situation. But if there’s any channel I’m subscribing to it’s here you have a good content to dollar ratio.

Devin Byrd

I am a patreon but I'm not watching very much because I don't prefer the second screen watchalongs and you haven't posted much else recently. I understand why - the time, effort and expense of editing has got to be a killer. Notwithstanding that, I continue to be a patreon because I respect and like you guys and appreciate your work.

KMun79

I already did man, damn
