This is from one of the very first chapters of the very first book: “Bran was going to be a knight himself someday, one of the Kingsguard. Old Nan said they were the finest swords in all the realm. There were only seven of them, and they wore white armor and had no wives or children, but lived only to serve the king. Bran knew all the stories. Their names were like music to him. Serwyn of the Mirror Shield. Ser Ryam Redwyne. Prince Aemon the Dragonknight. The twins Ser Erryk and Ser Arryk, who had died on one another's swords hundreds of years ago, when brother fought sister in the war the singers called the Dance of the Dragons.”

2024-06-29 17:40:53 +0000 UTCI think the hatred for Criston Cole’s character comes from a few places that just reached a peak this episode. And specifically it’s bc the show has done such a good job making him a character that feels like that kind of guy you hate in real life. - He is a “nice guy” who gets rejected by a girl and immediately just starts calling her a “bitch” and a “slut”. - He is a hypocrite who projects onto others and hides behind his own righteousness. - He keeps messing up and then just failing upwards. Kills the boyfriend of the future prince and gets promoted to personal guard of the Queen. Gets promoted to Lord Commander only to be horrible at managing security. Never assigns a personal guard to the new Queen and her children. And then gets promoted again. - And then like you said, in this episode he manipulates a subordinate out of his own guilt and causes the death of two brothers who were liked by the fandom. Characters who were just trying to do their duty and be honorable. - And lastly, I think fans just hate him being with Alicent. That she deserves better than him or something. But still he didn’t really do anything this episode that was especially that bad for the GOT universe, haha. And people need to realize they hate the character so much bc of how great the actor is doing their job…
