Halloween (1978) Watchalong!

Happy October, fellow ghosts and goblins. We're kicking off this month with our watchalong of a horror classic. John Carpenter's HALLOWEEN debuted in October 1978 and featured the big-screen debut of Jamie Lee Curtis. It also introduced us to Michael Myers, a character whose legacy would endure more than 40 years. We hope you enjoy this watchalong whether it's your first time seeing it or your tenth time seeing it.

If you don't own the film, here are some ways to get it. You can stream it directly from SHUDDER, or you can stream or rent it through Amazon. If you're a physical media collector, we recommend the 4K restoration from Shout Factory.

One thing I have always wondered was who taught Michael to drive?!?!

Megan England

Hey homies when are you going to get to the blumhouse ones since the new one comes out on Friday?

Maurice

I had been putting off subbing here for some time, but the second I heard you were doing Halloween, I had to finally do it. Was my first horror movie at age eight. I can't wait for the rest of the Blumhouse Timeline!

Garren

Hahaha Adam goes there all πŸ‘ the πŸ‘ time

Heroes Reforged

My old roomie grew up down the street from the Halloween house in South Pas and couldn't figure out for years as to why people were so obsessed with that house. She was/is too afraid to watch the movie.

Jennifer Wolfe

Awesome!! Can't wait to start watching some of the back logged stuff and obviously the new stuff!!

Jeremiah Maanum

Exactly! Or you can use a second screen as well

Heroes Reforged

Got it. So do most people do like a picture in picture??

Jeremiah Maanum

Hi Jeremiah. To watch along you have to provide your own copy of the movie. Check the links in the description. Shudder offers a 30-day trial that you can link to your Amazon account. We can’t show the entire movie because that would violate copyright laws.

Heroes Reforged

New to Patreon. How do most people on here watch the movie/show at the same time as the reaction?? I thought this would be something like watching on YouTube where the actually movie/show is streaming below the reaction. Thanks!

Jeremiah Maanum

As someone that was steeped in Goosebumps books and "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" airings as a kid, I think the first for-adults horror movie I watched was Child's Play. And maybe it's not as good a movie as Halloween (or maybe it's the too-similar-to-a-Good-Guys-doll my family bought me as a child) but I do not have the same love for it that Adam has for Halloween, LOL! Looking forward to all the spooky watch-alongs this month!

He’s always watching

Adams Michael head in the background ( with glowing red eyes) is so creepy πŸ˜…

Aisha Kenya

Hahaha I got distracted when I noticed that Michael’s head is moving behind Adam πŸ˜‚ and Agustin out here making me want popcorn! Had to pause and make some Great way to spend not just a Saturday night but the start of Spooky season! Happy October 1st, homies!

Felicia B

So many good bits in this watchalong. Agustin interrogating Adam, Adam's BTS knowledge, Hector's play-by-play murder commentating! I hope those stick around for the Blumhouse trilogy.

Alex Chapman

Thanks for sitting through the terror with us πŸ˜†

I wonder if Kurt Russell was ever considered because he would’ve been AMAZING!

Heroes Reforged

This is actually my first watch, with you guys. I know it's not ideal especially with how much detail Adam talked about here. But nobody in my life likes horror movies, including me, so I would have never watched it if not for this. So, still a win in my book πŸ‘

crftd

I actually love Halloween III: Season of the Witch. It is a totally different movie and I just love the vibe. The only problem is the lead male actor is terrible. I wish it had been somebody like Kurt Russel. The movie would be legendary with better casting.

Myles Away

I love this movie. Even with some of the corny acting, the atmosphere is just perfection. However, one my favourite things to do is spot the palm trees in the background. Such as the graveyard scene

πŸ‘€ WHOA

Heroes Reforged

really love Adam having all the behind the scenes info like Agustin did for the LOTR trilogy. Also my name made this movie a lot scarier for me as a kid πŸ˜‚

Thomas D

Thanks! 😊

I loved the background music πŸŽƒ
