What's up, homies! Welcome back to another reaction to The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. This week, they're turning up the spice levels just a little bit. We think it makes for a very thrilling episode. Join us!

Friendly reminder that on Saturday our spooky season watchalongs begin with John Carpenter's Halloween, which will be accessible to the Hero tier.

The Rings of Power 1x6 Uncut Reaction!

I haven’t seen the whole series but what if the scenes with the hobbit type ppl, is taking place years after the events that we are seeing the Elrond, and Galadriel ???? Thoughts

Holy crap, that ending. That whole episode was, pardon the pun, a blast. Galadriel's arc really feels like a precursor to her temptation with the One Ring in Fellowship, especially during her interrogation of Adar.

I wasn't 100% onboard with the Halbrand is Sauron theory (sure, there are plenty of hints alluding that he might be), but I had another thought earlier today: What if Halbrand ultimately aided Sauron in the events of this episode before we even met him? Earlier in the season he said "You don't know what I have done" in a way to label himself irredeemable. I wonder if Halbrand was approached by Sauron (possibly in his Annatar form) to abandon his birthright. He might or might not have known what would happen to the Southlands, but there had to be a catalyst for him leaving in the first place and his reluctance to return.

Agustin is right. It was necessary to introduce all of the main and supporting characters in meaningful ways in order to get to this episode's big pay-off. I thought the writers did a masterful job in adapting the source material that had disparate story elements scattered over a vast timeline. I would have loved seeing Hector's reaction to this episode's big twists. Maybe he could record his own individual reaction and show us the highlights.

I was not on board with the theory that Halbrand was Sauron, until the end of this episode. Everything before seemed that Halbrand just wanted to stay away from the fray, so I didn't think so but they keep saying Sauron's a deceiver so I didn't completely rule it out (I think all theories are possible, just some more likely to me). After Adar told his story and saying he killed Sauron and cut him in half, I didn't believe him at the time, until he asked Halbrand who he was and Halbrand didn't say. Then I remembered Halbrand saying, "Do you remember me?" He could be PISSED that Adar betrayed him.

Wow. Ok, in this episode I finally can see the gears turning. I can understand where they are going with Galadriel which makes me very hopeful, and she finally did show a bit of the future Galadriel by exercising patience and restraint. Of course she almost blew it later, but I think I can see the journey they are drawing for her, which hopefully is justifying why she was so fearful of giving in to the One Ring when Frodo offered it to her in LOTR. The waking of Mount Doom was also genius to me. The one thing I disagree with Augustin is that I don't think it's the viewer's impatience at fault. The show waited until episode 6 to get the gears turning! In a time where there are so many great shows competing for attention, don't you think they should have thought out the script to show some exciting things at least from episode 3? I stayed because I am a fan, but I've seen many casual watchers say the show is boring, and some of them stopped watching. But I'm hoping it will be only up from here and that the ones who gave up will come back.

I've been thinking that Adar was Maeglin for a while now, but to have him be one of the original Uruk is so awesome. I love how he knew he would be the one chased and so passed off the sword. I've enjoyed the slow pace and the set up, but had been feeling like we needed an episode that accelerated the pace of action. So glad this episode was as great as it was.

Weirwood

That was a crazy episode, did not see the key being used. But Adar says to the human just before the Numerorans come in. "I have a task for you." I really think he's conversation with Galadriel was just trying to buy time. Also next episode is going to be Elrond and Durin and the Harfoots we won't know what happened here till episode 8.

I thoroughly enjoyed this episode and Adar’s conversation with Galadriel. I always look forward to watching your reactions to each show you guys review! Love love love your channel! The one of the big questions a lot of us would like answered was when Adar asked Halbrand “Who are you?” I also want to see what the role of the stranger will be. Just two more episodes left! So exciting to see how the show runners will end this season.

Post Mordor episode please haha and it’s okay to be rendered speechless Agustin. This episode was a jolt to the system and you need time to process haha I seriously need this series on 4K with all the BTA appendices, please and thank you. This needs to be apart of my (and everyone’s) life 🙏🏼

The lore drop and stance of Adar has made him so fascinating, especially if he truly separate from Sauron. Also, 'noro lim, noro lim Asfaloth!'

JLee

Miriel is a Tolkien character. Can't say too much...spoilers :)

Philip Smith
