Ms. Marvel 1x3 Uncut Reaction!

Last week's cliffhanger ending of Ms. Marvel set us up for some big revelations this week. Let's see what we, along with Kamala, learn about Kamran and his mother.

Ms. Marvel 1x3 Uncut Reaction!

Comments

Too many are missing out on this great show, regardless of the reason

Mark T Howard

Did you notice the creator of Kamala Khan cameo in the wedding? The camera zoomed in on her.

Ryan Barcus

Don’t forget Jennifer Walters!

Walter Manbeck

I am an Adult (Middle Aged) White Male Nerd, and any of "my people" who are not watching this are missing out. I LOVE this show. I LOVE this cast. It's got action, it's got real life family dynamics, and it's got an authentic look at a culture I know so little about. I am loving seeing different perspectives. I agree with you guys, I could watch several seasons of just this family. And so stoked to see Anjali get more than just a quick cameo - loved her on Critical Role. Move over Ashley Johnson, you are now the 2nd biggest MCU character on Crit Role.

I meantioned this on discord but even a as a lovely english white guy i feel so much connection this show, not only because of the family aspect, but i live in a high asian population area and i can see people i know and even just seeing families down the street from me in this show. Also want to give a shout out to marvel, first hero from new jersey and wait straight in for jerseys own bon jovi on her first bad guy fight. Got to love that

Tom Clough

Beautiful show and reaction. I'm totally into it.

What I found super interesting this episode was the scene at the mosque. After the last episode, I read and heard several Muslim people online talk about the FBI targeting mosques and how that led to the younger generation picking up law to defend their communities. And this episode, we get to see Nakia do exactly that, cite the law to stop harrassment. I really want to see her arc as well. She's so passionate about her religion, culture, and community, while bringing a distinctly young, feminist perspective.

Thoronris

I agree. While I understood that Djinn usually are bad news, they presented themselves as caring and open, let her go - and a couple of days later (two? three?) suddenly, they turn 180? That was a bit rushed, even though in general, it does make sense.

Thoronris

I think Damage Control could get their filty hands on her and then she would need A REALLY GOOD LAWYER. I would love an argument between Nikia and Matt πŸ˜„

A. Bielke

I totally agree that I do not really need the super hero part in this show, because it is so good, ... but I would not have seen it without it πŸ˜„ I am one of these adult, mid 40s, white male nerd and I did not expect it to be for me and I am completly surprised that it turns out to be one of my favorits. I just started to watch it, because in Feige I trust πŸ˜‹

A. Bielke

I think we're going to get a solid connection at the end of it to where she comes from. When she was telling Kamala who they were I was waiting for her to say something like, "some people even call us in-human".

Greg McCoy

I loved this episode so much. Reminded me of my cousin's wedding, as his wife is half-Indian and they had an inter-racial wedding, and the reception was so much like the reception on the show, down to some of the dances. Which was so awesome to see in media.

Roman Penna

I think the viewership will jump up when The Marvels drops. Plus, it was released amongst so much other stuff happening, and the character isn’t as well know. But it’ll get there!

Heroes Reforged

Yeah, it’s really well done

I was not expecting any cameo within the show. Kamala is a fan of avengers, but i dont think she should meet this early. I would like her to embrace and make sense of her powers by herself n her family. But if it is an End Credit Scene on the finale episode, then im down. Especially the fact this show will continue to The Marvels.

Monica Winny

This show has been amazing so far, and I agree with Adam's comment about loving all of Kamala's family and community.

Tim Arnold

My only gripe with this episode is not understanding the answer to this question: Why did the Djinn pick up Kamala at the end of last episode, give us the history exposition, and let her go β€” only to flip and with β€œwe’ve waited centuries” urgency try to capture and force her soon after? Maybe it was to give her an opportunity to help willingly, but it felt like an odd shift from friendly Djinn family to uncaring hunters. What do you think? Did I miss a beat?

Chad-Michael Simon

Sometimes I watch without the accompanying show and imagine where you are in it by your comments and reactions. (After having watched it, of course.) I don’t know, it harkens back to when I’d listen to my tape recording of A New Hope and picture the movie long before home video. I was waiting, waiting, waiting for the Brown Jovi reaction, and it did not disappoint.

I am in love with this show. It has been so good from the very start. I feel like almost every single online comment I have seen that starts off with "I tried" or "I started to" and said it was too much a kid show have not even really watched it. Yes, there are teenage related content in here as she is a teenager, but there is incredible depth around family, community, and coming into her own with her powers that transcends it all. I can't believe we have only had 3 episodes so far as it feels like it has been more, but I am sad we only have 3 more... till the movie at least.

David Lonewolf Wright

Loved your reaction to this episode, guys. So good. The family moments were very relatable, especially the mom moment where she describes early hardships after moving to America. Honestly, I see new immigrants face that reality check even today. I feel the show is going to reveal that Kamala's real strength won't be the bangle, her inter-dimensional roots or her heritage. It will be her family. Because the "one who chooses family is never alone".

Aatir Abdul Rauf

Speaking as an adult white male(in reference to Agustin's comment), I LOVE this show. It's so good.

Brian

This show is amazing. I'm bummed that it's not making a bigger splash but maybe its popularity will be a slow burn, as the character gets rolled out into more parts of the MCU. Can you imagine Kamala Khan and America Chavez doing a buddy show together? And then the Khan's adopt America into the family just like they've done with Bruno... And I really want Mrs. Khan to throw down with the head djinn - who oddly hasn't displayed any physical powers yet. You know Mrs. Khan would find a way to win. She's part djinn too - just gotta unlock the noor.

I absolutely enjoyed this episode, and I am really enjoying this show. The quality of the writing and execution remain so high. As you all said, this family, friend group, and community is wonderful, and I could watch a show that is just their interactions without all the superhero stuff. The production values are incredible - the costuming, the music, the animation flourishes all blow me away. Plus, I love the way they are teasing out the origin of Ms. Marvel and her struggle to find her place/roll in the world. I can't wait for more.
