351 - Are We There Yet?

HI, BROS! Time for another Monday Post. Let's do this.

THE LIFE. Few day ago I had a little scare when I thought my laptop has died. I always back up all my work so I wasn't worried about loosing any files, what scared me was the thought of finishing the development of the game on a new PC. I want to finalize this project using the tools I am used to. Thankfully it was nothing serious, but googling for the solution for the problem and applying it afterwards ate up the entirety of my work day basically. Honestly... I miss the days when the technology was less complicated, less prone to breaking down for silly reasons and way more easy to figure out.

LYK. Looks like we are finally done with all the proofreading. You can check out his detailed report in his later post here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/were-done-with-114398341
Also if you could throw a buck or two at the guy I would appreciate it. Lyk does what he does basically for free. I stopped supporting him 3 years ago after my life situation has changed. Or you can do it later, after you play the game and feel like showing some support. Or never at all. Whatever you feel like.

DAHR. I think Dahr is done with his bit and won't be sending any more of his drawings my way. But it is not certain. You can never be certain about stuff like this with Dahr. If the mood strikes him he could always drop another avalanche of art on me when I least expect it. -_-

THE WORK. I have finished all the stuff I wanted to draw and moved on to inking. The plan for this week is to ink the rest of the pictures and start doing the colors. For now I will be busy with inking, coloring, writing the scenes and importing all that into the game. This will take some time, but not too long I imagine. I will inform you on the progress next Monday.

THAT IS IT. I am hoping for no more delays. I hope everything will go smoothly in my life for a while and I will be able to finish everything in a timely manner. No technical difficulties,  no health problems, no unexpected events of any kind. All I need a little quiet time. -_-

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT, BROS. Next week I will be definitely making another EXTRA!! post sharing preview of some of the things that has been inked and colored over the week. I will see you then. Laterz.

Ака, ну ты тип конечно.. Вот вроде вот лежит уже, всё готовое, но нет, надо оставить потомиться)) Не осуждаю, если что!

Zik

I actually set up a ko-fi recently because somebody asked me for a way to donate outside of patreon (he didn't end up donating anything though, lel). Maybe I should put it on the account page nobody reads, but the account name is lykd9.

Lyk

Don't need to back up the back ups as well. Can never bee to careful with this digital crap -_-

AKAMAN

Thank you, Xenogate. ^^

AKAMAN

^^

AKAMAN

Thank you Nepurin. Always appreciate your support.

AKAMAN

I think (unfortunately) it's true for almost any game project: if everything goes as planned the game is probably to simple :) Creative process is never easy, -_-

AKAMAN

Yeah. Hopefully there will be no more technical problems until the release date ^^

AKAMAN

Soon*

AKAMAN

Good idea.

AKAMAN

You should convince Lyk to setup a buy me a coffee

jacbob

Бля, чел... Ты издеваешься что-ли над нами? Выпусти уже чертову игру, я ждал ее типо года 2 назад

Алексей Мошков

Glad to have made it back in time to say hi! Sorry about the laptop nearly dying, yikes. Glad that got fixed!

Trevor Bond

As a free member I won't demand anything but this release cycle was a bit crazy. I hope the wait was worth it ;)

Mrgrgr!

Hey, great news! I’m glad your laptop is okay though. Good luck with drawing and writing, I hope you’ll have fun doing that, and all the best luck in having a calm and nice week with no unexpected situations! And as always, have a good one Aka

Nepurin

here comes a queen filled winter WOOHOO

Legen

About your laptop and new technology problems, here's an old saying that I'm guessing the meaning of in English: "Life is a bitch, she always come back in heat." I'm glad everything is okay and that your health is good. You are in my prayers, friend Akabur. Big hug and good luck.

Xenogate

hmm and that reminds me again I'm weeks behind on my backup, I tend to backup my mail as well once I've read it in gmail to a local client then back it up with everything else. But I always end up behind on email so don't back it up and hence don't back the rest up. The rest is what actually matters. Home server I had to document my setup as I did a bunch of unique things that took a good deal of time to get working and I knew later I'd forget it all. Home server needs a rebuilt too, I'd virtualised the server and storage drives (and I think it made the whole thing slow), next time around just a standard physical operating system and direct hard drives in the raid and hopefully faster. Now just have to make sure I backup on the weekend.

Deonast

Yeah, I try to back up files to my online storage every day and to my external HDD every week or so. You can't be too safe with this stuff.

AKAMAN

Jak X was (and is) my second favorite combat racing game (after Rock and Roll racing). And I know exactly what you mean by not always having the energy or resolve to back up things by the end of the day.

AKAMAN

Can't specify any actual numbers, I think I'd rather just thank you for the support and patience.

AKAMAN

Saving the config info is a brilliant idea. Thank you for sharing the wisdom. Also I will make sure to mention LYK after the release (unless the game fails :)

AKAMAN

This is a wise man of unshakeable moral integrity.

Lyk

I not only backup my work device, but also write configs detailing all of the tools and settings required for each project and back them up. I have come to accept that devices can fail anytime, however there is no guarantee to fixing them nowadays. Honestly, I just feel bad for the younger generation because they wouldn't learn the art to fix their PC. Also, can you remind us to support LYK once the game is out for a few days?

Varsh

the delay will be one month maybe two ? it's fine realy +-3 years it's ok for a complete game thanks bro

Moxence

It's been years since I played Jak X. I loved it. In terms of backups I have tried to get into the habit of backing up at the end of the day but it can hard when I have the right rhythm down.

Henshinvolt

No worry, delays to add more content are welcome. And yes that is a scare, since some years ago, aside from the cloud backup I always install everything on an external drive, yes it's a bit expensive, but that way once planned obsolescence hits, I just plug the drive and presto, working as usual.
