Changes?

In a situation as complicated as theirs, it was really convenient not to call this relationship anything specific. Nothing in their daily life resembled a conventional couple's interactions. Filip kept on being a brat, going out and showing up whenever he wanted to, claiming Patrick's flat in the city for his own when he needed. Compensating his stay with a beer or two and some fast food grabbed on his way there.
It was weirdly heartwarming to Patrick, seeing someone, who used to have such a reserved stance, grow and become more relaxed. He imagined Filip as a stray cat who gets in whenever he wants just to get what he needs, but eventually staying, just for the sake of sharing the room together.
He was welcomed, never taken for granted, special in Patrick's eyes. He took his time to bond with the bratty coworker, learning quick not to step over the invisible lines Filip drew in between being fuck friends and taking it a step further.

For some reason kissing usually was a no-no to Filip. He felt awkward and defensive, so Patrick didn't want to push it. Nevertheless closeness was important to Pat, and every time he was gifted with a moment of softness, he took it in with open arms. Never demanding, never accusing, yet slowly coming to a conclusion that their relationship needed a lot of time to grow into something that would be fully satisfying to him.
There were moments, where he didn't feel safe enough to let himself be entirely committed, but the moment he accepted that Filip will never be able to give him warmth that he needed,  everything turned 180 degrees, and suddenly they were ending up cuddling in bed, falling asleep like a perfect loving couple. 

"What is going on in this guys head?" he kept on thinking while watching the time fly by.
One day they are buddies in the pub, eyeing some nice looking ladies, the other they get high together and feel like there's no one else in this world who could make them more complete.
"Is this something i want to do for the rest of my life?" The answer to that wasn't easy. On the one hand, he didn't have much choice, he enjoyed Filip's company, and wanted to grow together. Filip - getting to know himself and embracing his vulnerabilities, him - deepening the sense of empathy and patience. Plus their intimate moments were highly satisfying to both of them. What more could Patrick want? Indeed, there was one thing that kept on coming up again and again as he was confronting himself with his own dreams about the future.
